Which setting should I choose for studs?

Hello! I am choosing between these two settings for a pair of 6mm diameter studs.. I'm hoping for them to sit close to the ear without "flopping". I feel like the first setting with the donut may "sit up" better but will be off the ear more than I'd prefer... will I be OK with "droopiness" with the other style if I use a large enough backing?
