Which setting do you like for 4crt Cushion?

I see a lot of beautiful cushions with very delicate halo settings here, I've seen some are over 4 carats. But do they start to look more like a right hand ring once the center diamonds hit certain size? I have some friends who commented that they look like DY rings! So which setting do you think look the best for over 4crt cushions.....if it's being used as ER.

I like 3 or 5 stones with a cushion that large.

Actually I have a question for you, did you love or hate the French cut sides you had in the Leon ring? Were they not sparkly enough? I am a bit of a size wh@#% and a bling queen myself and I am trying to figure out what I should get with a larger OEC, french cuts, or possible halo. Thanks.

I love a big diamond as a delicate solitaire and let her be the star of the show. The Julia solitaire by JbEG comes to mind.

I love cushion & halo settings. I have a 4ct. Cushion set in a double halo (pic included) I personally don't find it looking like a right hand ring or cocktail style. I think the double halo frames my cushion very nicely. Just a note... I LOVED your AVC LM ring you previously owned.. It was gorgeous! Hope you find something you love!

That ring didn't have any problems with "bling" (but I have to note it is not a same kind of Bling you get from bunch of MRB melee diamonds halo. It is more like understated elegant kind of a bling.), it was more like how low it was set. Initially I thought I'll like the low setting, but after wearing it for a while I realized that I *hate* the low setting. LM's french cut ring is one of the most gorgeous rings I've ever seen, and it really was special. I just didn't love wearing it. Also along with my AVC being a D color with SBF didn't help.....again it was a learning experience for my that I much prefer warmer color for AVC than super crisp white D. AVC I had looked so white/clear, that bothered me..

Your ring is beautiful! Love the delicate double-halo!

I totally agree that Leon has a tendency to set stones too low. I don't care for high settings, either. But there is a lot of territory between too low and too high! I think Vatche nailed the height on the U113. And I think Victor does a nice job with height, as well.

That Leon 5-Stone is my dream ring. That's what I was going to suggest.

VC's halo are very pretty! If I were to get any Halo setting, I'll go with SK or LM...maybe ERD? I've seen a few pictures of ERD's custom halo that looks very delicate as well! Is ERD's pricing comparable to VC/SK/LM?

Oh, right, in this case, I would use Steven Kirsch, definitely. His work is high quality like the other two. I think ERD does some beautiful work, but I would always choose VC, SK, or LM first.

Thank you so much for letting me know. I am undecided about what to do. I own 2 Victor rings already a band and Frankiextah's former Emilya halo. You won't find much better pave than Victor's in my humble opinion. He really knows how to make the main stone both shine and integrate seamlessly with the melee, so that it doesn't look chunky or odd looking, or like something that should be a dress ring. I think if you have a cushion that is 4 carats it's probably facing like a 3 to 3.5 carat round anyway in actual mm size so putting a delicate halo around it won't be over the top.

My choice for pave would be Victor, then Steven, ERD is nice and amazing if you are on a budget but Victor's pave is the best of the best. Leon does amazing 3 stone and 5 stones with cushions. His eye for symmetry surpasses everyone else. But if you went with another Leon unless you specify very clearly in the work order you want a higher setting you could possibly end up with another low set ring.

If you have a AVC you would have to go with Steven as both Leon and Victor will accept genuine antique stones but not AV cushions cut by GOG.

I suspect Victor's Sophia (french cut sides) is a fair bit higher set than Leon's version as well.... I have admired the French Cut sides style rings for a long while now, I bought a thin antique french cut ruby band which I adore the bright red just pops with colour and then a antique french cut diamond band and I have to say I was not enamoured with the french cut diamonds. Don't get me wrong they were pretty but they weren't like OMG I love that and can't live with out it, if that makes sense. Having said that I think brand new French Cut diamonds might sparkle more than old slightly worn vintage ones, but I am not sure.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's one of my favourite rings on Pricescope. It does have its own thread some where.

I like the 5 stone but the halo is for me. I see DS already posted my ring so I won't bother with a repeat. I will say that in RL the ring is very delicate. VC made the halo smaller then a typically Emilya setting at 1.2mm I believe and it doesn't look cocktail at all.

Goodluck with your upcoming decision!

victor canera emilya halo. No question. That is my DREAM ring, and I want it for my 20 year anniversary. If I DON'T get it, my husband will sustain great bodily harm.

I don't think you can go wrong... If you are afraid halos will "go out of style," then do a 3 or 5 stone... you can always go back and halo that bad boy! Personally, for your size stone, I'd do a very delicate halo and call it a day! ;)) Can't wait to see what you choose... I know it will be gorgeous regardless!!

Hi,

I find that a 3 or 5 stone has a more sophisticated look and frankly, more expensive look. That stone should shine by itself.

A halo is too common now. I do like a halo in other circumstances, but not with this size stone.,

Anything with double claw prongs but the three and five stone are to die for!!!!

I would personally prefer a solitaire or 3 stone setting. Halos had been way overused to help smaller diamonds look bigger in my opinion. A 4 carat diamond would stand it's weight alone or with accent stones nicely.

I love a simple claw prong 3 stone. Or a 5 stone;)

You know, Halo rings are very pretty.........but I want to enjoy the diamond itself first and see how I feel about it before putting halo around it. It's going to be much cheaper in case I don't like the Halo bling....ultimately I really like the 5-stone look or even 3-stone with thin bullets...

Good luck making your decision Wintotty. I hope you find a gorgeous home for your stone.
I would vote for the 3- and 5 stone settings.

Just as a sidenote: if you loved the french cut setting, but not how low it was set, would a VC french cut ring be an option for you?

wintotty did I miss the thread about your cushion? Have you already purchased it? I'm dying to see it!

Victor doesn't set AVC's, so she'd have to use Steven Kirsch for that.

Wintotty, I do think the best idea is to just get the new head for your current ring and wait and be sure you have the stone you want to keep long term before setting it in a really expensive setting. (I am doing the same!)

Leon's three stone with one large centre and two side stones that are also cushions is also amazing and any of Steven's three sided pave in the shank and pave in the head jewelled basket solitaire settings are stunning as well!!!

Hey, I was wondering why this is, if you or anyone knows?
