Hello All,

I am having trouble deciding which ring to choose. I have both at home and I just can not make up my mind.
The second ring (citrine) was actually purchased from Costco. Cost was $500. Costco just does not have a picture of the ring on there website.

Thanks

I vote the sapphire ring

Personally I like the first one from overstock.

Also the sapphire ring.

While I do like the brightness of the Costco citrine ring, if price were no object, I''d go with the Overstock piece - I love the two-tone metal and more muted tone of the yellow sapphires. Have fun choosing!

citrine/sapph here too

I like yellow sapphires, so I vote the first one with the center sapphire.

I agree with the other posters

I like the design of the citrine ring better, but I will choose a sapphire over a citrine (if we are just talking abt the stone itself)

I didn't read the entire listing from overstock, but it's highly probable that the sapphire is artificially colored, and not worth much.

I read the whole thing. They say the sapphire is heated. Never did they say it was natural.

I like the design of the citrine much better - cleaner, more modern, less gaudy/ornate.

I actually like the 2nd one better!

The citrine looks really yummy. But I understand that the first one (sapphire) may be a more durable ring. Is this going to be worn on a daily basis?

If the pictures are accurate, I may spring for the second ring due to the colour and design. When it comes to something more expensive like the sapphire, I prefer to find my own stone and build the ring as I have better control over the quality. With it being a stock item, who knows the true quality of the sapphire.

heated could also mean lattice diffused.

I prefer the 2nd ring!!!

You said you already have both rings - can you take pictures of them for us?? With stock rings like those the colors of the stones will usually vary between individual rings. Hand shots would be REALLY helpful...

Second ring. The first looks like there is too much going on on it. It doesn''t look classic in my opinion at all.

Thank you for all your comments. I don''t think I am in love with either ring and I am thinking of starting from scratch.

I really would love a yellow cushion sapphire. What do you think of this one? Any other suggestions would be great. My budget is $2000 for the stone and setting

Oh, I also am not sure what dimensions or what is a good cut cushion. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Yellow isn''t my color but WOW I like the color of that stone on my monitor. It looks very very nice. I like the shape too. Let us know what you decide. But it''s good that your going for something you like better than the other two rings!!

Honestly,
I am not a fan of yellow sapphires. If you want a nice, durable and affordable yellow gem, get a chrysoberyl. I just obtained a three carat elongated cushion chrysoberyl and it glows yellow to the moon. I would just make sure I tried to get one without a brown undertone, or as little brown as possible. My stone has a green secondary, but is mostly yellow. They are also untreated, unlike sapphires which can have a myriad of treatments, and cost a premium without treatment.

Do a search on chrysoberyl in this forum, and here's mine just to give you an idea of how bright these stones can be.

I love yello sapphires. That one is a little weak in color. Bit pricey too. There are lovely yellows out there and at decent prices. Chrysoberyl is a real good alternative, and it tends to be more sparkly I think.

I think chrysoberyl is extremely underrated, and talk about sparkle!! WOW! I never appreciated them until I finally owned a couple. Amazing gems when you can find them saturated enough.

I looked over NSC's entire yellow sapphire inventory, and nothing really does it for me, especially at those price points.

I was looking at cresla the other day. They had some interesting chrysoberyl

The only thing I caution about chrysoberyl, just like sapphire, is that it can sometimes be too grey or brown, but when they''re very saturated, they''re really something else. They''re also so affordable, and for many people, that''s just such a plus when you''re on a tight budget.

Some other vendors of chrysoberyl are.

Thank you all for your comments.

Tourmaline Lover, your stone is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.

I did end up purchasing the cushion cut sapphire from The Natural Sapphire Company. I should have it by Tuesday.

If you are dealing with an upmarket jeweler you could double the making cost. Alas white and yellow gold are not the same price, because Platinum and or Palladium (both of which are far more expensive than the silver.
