Looking at these two stones and was hoping to get opinions -

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.228-h-si1-round-diamond-ags-104067957027
HCA 0.9
-Told eye clean from the top and would need a loupe to see the inclusions.
-From the side eye-clean from 6inches

http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2977524.htm#
HCA 1.9
-Since VS2 eye-clean all around
-In the hearts image you can see the, shadow?, of the inclusion at about 10 o'clock.

Thank you in advance - this is a great forum!

These 2 diamonds are so, so similar that you would be hard pressed to tell the two apart even if they were right next to each other.

That said, I think the SI1 BGS inclusion might be slightly visible if you look super, super close, whereas the ACA inclusion probably is not visible, even on extremely close (unaided) inspection.

The determining factor, I think, is whose settings you like better: WhiteFlash or Brian Gavin. In retrospect, I kind of wish I'd gotten from White Flash because they have cheaper and more diverse setting options.

Either one would look stellar. I would probably get the cleaner of the two if priced similarly.

Thanks for the advice!! I'm likely going to put it in a simple solitaire for now as the diamond itself is costing quite a lot! But I think a better diamond now in a simple, cheaper, setting might be the best option. Perhaps we can upgrade the setting later.

I was told the inclusion on the BGD cannot be seen at all due it being a crystal and twinning wisp and very light in nature. But the crystal is eye clean after 6 or 10 inches.

Should I be worried about the different HCA scores? or the Hearts image on the WF?

Prices are both very similar - I think the WF is $15.00 cheaper.

I'm pretty sure you get ~5% pricescope discount on BGD signature diamonds...just in case that helps you in your decision!

Can't go wrong with either, both H&A's top of the line, my pick would be the BGD, I like the spread a bit better, and if the SI1 inclusions can only be seen from the side, need a loupe on the table, this would be my pick.

Need not worry about the HCA, not in play, hearts are fine on the WF. I would try to get the setting from whomever you get the stone, just makes for a simple transaction.

BG will give an additional 2% discount to PS members (for a total of 5% off regular price).

Seriously, the difference between these two diamonds is incredibly negligible. They're practically twins. At this point, choose the vendor based on who has the setting you want.

I factored in the 5% to my $15.00 difference above - but really thank you for mentioning it :)

So I am thinking a simple setting...the $350 white gold ones they both sell as I would already be over budget with the diamond. Should this effect my decision or would it be a toss up?

I think I am leaning towards the WF simply because it is a VS2 and we don't have to worry about seeing any inclusions whatsoever.

Any other thoughts before I pull the trigger?

Should I be concerned with the measurements on the WG being 6.79x6.84x4.21 compared to 6.89 x 6.91 x 4.22 on the BGD?

thank you all
