I have noticed several different platinum blends. Some have cobalt, tungsten, etc. Which of these is best for durability and how is it measured? I saw a brief posting in the FAQ but need more info. Do settings come with paper-work to describe such things?
Yes I was also wondering about plat mixes and if the alloys have different properties: does one make it shinier, does another make it whiter? etc... Maybe this bump will get some more replies
We put together a pretty thorough page on this a few weeks ago and it's a bit too lengthy to post here on PS in it's entirety so we're just going to link to it, information pertaining to specific platinum mixes and their uses is provided at the bottom of the page Platinum Tips & Care hope it helps!
I have not seen NiceIce's page yet - I'm sure it is very good -
SND Gems also has a basic but informative page about paltinum and alloys - maybe you could use it as a primer for the NiceIce tutorial!
NiceIce - I saw your page - Nice! My previous comment stands - I like the details you have on you page about metals - esp. the information about Pl being hypoallergenic. I have not mentioned that a few times becuase I could not remember for certain if that was indeed a virtue of Pl. I think that is a very useful and important fact to point out. Not only do some people have natural allerigies to certain metals but some may develop heavy metal sensitivities in the course of treatment. It seems a small thing, but it can mean a great deal to a patient to be able to wear their wedding ring. Just a thought... Knowledge is Power!
