I now have a bit of an issue here.

I just purchased a .75ct H&A F VS1 for 3600. But I am now seeing a .80ct H&A G VS1 for the same price.

Would 5 points make that much of a difference? As opposed to the F vs. G? I''m just wondering if it would be worth it to take advantage of my 30 day return policy.

thanks.

What are the actual measurements of the diamond? The dimensions are more telling than the carat weight.
If the measurement is bigger, I personally would choose the G stone that is bigger because I am not that color sensitive to tell an F from a G

current one: 5.82 x 5.85 x 3.6

.80 ct one: 5.98 x 6.01 x 3.69

put it this way...

Would you more easily tell the difference of .16 mm''s or from G to F?

I roll my eyes a little at someone pointing out that it''s ".8 carats, NOT 3/4!" so i don''t know what i should do....

Yes, you will see the size difference more than the color difference.

My center stone is a F and my sides are G and I can''t see the difference. But you will see the size.

However, if the smaller stone is better cut, I would go for smaller. The beauty of a diamond is not just the spread, but how its cut overall. I''m not cut expert and others could give you better advice if they had mor stats.

But F vs G, if all else is equal in cut quality I would go for the bigger one!

Both are H&A with AGS certificate, and same Clarity (VS1), Polish (Id), Symmetry (Id), Girdle (thin to med), Culet (none), and Fluorescence (neg).

Here are the differences...

Carat weight: 0.75
Cut: Hearts & Arrows Ideal
Color: F
Depth: 61.8%
Table: 55.2%
Measurements: 5.82*5.85*3.60
Crown Angle: 34.4°
Crown %: 15.30
Pavillion Angle: 40.8°
Pavillion %: 43.20

Carat weight: 0.80
Color: G
Depth: 61.5%
Table: 54.1%
Measurements: 5.98*6.01*3.69
Crown Angle: 33.9°
Crown %: 15.50
Pavillion Angle: 10.9°
Pavillion %: 43.10

what do you think??? And how big a difference is the size?

You have the Pav angle and pav % reversed.

The cut advisor says the 0.8 has a dangerously think girdle or the numbers you posted are wrong. Please check the numbers again and if your numbers are correct, then stick with the original stone.

Thanks!

OK, either would be nice, but the first is probably cut a bit better. If you put them side by side, yes, you could probably see the difference, but it''s small. Alone, you''re basically getting the same look. Keep the one you have.

so what''s up with the cut advisor''s warning that the girdle is dangerously thick? What does that mean? (I checked the numbers and they are correct for depth)

I think she may have put in the incorrect (typo) PA number on it. It''s fine.

Well, I did it, just to be sure, but I knew it was ok. 1.2, ex ex ex vg

Then I put the error in, and it comes up girdle too thick .

I don''t think she caught the correction.

damnit. the more i look the more i can''t decide.

All below are H&A ideal with AGS certs...

#1 .75ct F VS1 (cut advisor = 1.2, ex,ex,ex,vg) 3600
#2 .80ct G VS1 (cut advisor = 1.3, ex,ex,ex,vg) 3600
#3 .83ct G VS2 (cut advisor = 1.0, ex,ex,ex,vg) 3500

I already have the first one... should i return it and swap for #2 or #3?
