I am in the process of planning a three-stone RHR with Victor and I need opinions on the center stone. There are three choices from CBI/HPD, all similar in size. I love higher colors but am somewhat concerned about the inclusions in the D VS2. I realize that any one of these diamonds would be gorgeous, so this is essentially splitting hairs... but I just wanted to run the AGS specs by the eyes of some objective experts (you all!) to see if there is a clear winner!

Feel free to post comments as well as casting your vote. Many thanks in advance for weighing in on this! :)

I voted for the largest one... they'll all be super white and totally clean. If the prices are about equal, I'd get the 2.34 ct F/VS1. It'll be SUPER WHITE!

If it were me, I'd go G/H, eye clean SI and get a bigger center... but I'm a size whore, so...

I voted for the biggest one too…fellow size whore here :))

The F!
Biggest one, and the only one without surface graining.

I also voted for the F - for the same reason Stephan posted.

Or "additional clouds not shown"

Out of the three, the biggest for sure. Sounds like it will be a very nice RHR, so exciting.

Yes due to size, clarity and grading report I too would choose the largest stone. I say that though not knowing what you are thinking of in terms of size of side stones and what the eventual finger coverage will be across the finger. Also, is this stone in addition to the first 2+ carat stone you got or are you trading that stone in on another? Not that it matters in terms of choosing the new stone but I am trying to follow the story line - lol!

I voted for the E, VS1. It does not have inclusion just under the table (the center is clean), does not have Feather as inclusion (I avoid feathers), and is better proportioned with 15% crown height (under 15% crown tend to be swallow).
E color is very close to D, but F is 2 steps down. My eye can distinguish F from D, but cannot do the same with E and D.

Ditto.

Thanks, all! You all make great points, and of these choices I think I am leaning toward the 2.34 as well. However, now I am considering a complete departure from MRBs... antique cushions! My e-ring features a MRB and the trilogy will be a RHR, so I am thinking of changing it up with regard to shape. Thoughts??

Regardless of which direction I go, I truly appreciate all of the opinions shared, as you pointed out many aspects that I hadn't yet thought about. Thank you again, everyone!

Thanks MGR! And what an amazing memory you have! Yes, guilty as charged... I am considering trading the original stone. I just updated my e-ring and as beautiful as the original 2 carat stone is, I am not sure it is quite right for a trilogy ring. If I keep MRBs in the trilogy I think I would go for a slightly larger center stone, but the trilogy will be a RHR, and I am concerned that I will eventually tire of having similar stones on both hands over time. That said, your trilogy is truly gorgeous! I am trying my best to think long-term and make a choice that will stand the test of time! I am finding that with jewelry it is best to get it right the first time whenever possible! :) Many thanks again for chiming in with your insights!

I can certainly understand that you want to consider another shape diamond for a right hand ring. I hope you have access to some so that you can view them in person before making a decision!

I vote another shape! Mix it up a little. Good luck deciding!

Thanks MGR and poshmommy! (I love both of your screen names, by the way! :twirl:) Yes, I agree... I think I need to mix it up a bit! I have been looking at Victor's CACs... I will keep you all posted!
