We FINALLY selected a virtual stone yesterday and when we went to order it, we found out that it had SOLD an hour earlier. Needless to say that we were disappointed to go back to the drawing board. My bf told me to ask Pricescope peeps about the pavillion angle on these 2 new stones and whether it would cause darkness in either of these 2 diamonds. Thanks to all. I am so excited to get my ring... it''s about time if you know what I mean ;)! Does one stand out as better on paper? Price is about the same.... thanks all. Is AGS better than GIA?

Both have definite potential, do you have any images such as Idealscope please?

GIA and AGS are the two top tier labs and in some cases AGS cut grade is preferred to GIA so you could definitely choose an AGS graded stone with confidence.

Ditto, can you post the AGS report number and the exact carat weight?

These should be close enough in every aspect to be made into a pair if you wanted a fine pair of earrings. Any differnece between them will be in the technical range more than anything visual to the human eye. You did not report the girdle thickness of either stone and that "might" be of some importance if the girdle on one is way too thick or way too thin, but with the grades of polish and symmetry and the other details of cut given already, I doubt either will have girdle problems.

I tend to be a realist with responding to "which diamond to buy?" questions. When everything is visually and emotionally the same, the less costly is the better choice. There are plenty of other important things to do with money. If a brand name or a lab report makes the difference to you, or if you perceive a better look to one over the other, then you may decide on that basis, too. The last thing we should do is to decide for you, but we want to give you balanced advice so that the decision remains personal and romantically all yours.

Sorry, here are the girdle measurements/details... do they check out OK?

AGS stone girdle= 1.7 - 3.8
GIAstone girdle = Thin - Medium

Thanks so much for your help so far... Nice to hear that they are close so less chance of making a wrong decision. I feel better about that. I am probably over thinking it but a few people mentioned the pavillion measurement "threshold of 40.6" and potential issues with dark spots started making me a little paranoid. Is HCA of 1.0 of the AGS better than the 0.8 HCA of the GIA stone or vice versa? thx a million

No, HCA is a rejection tool not a selection tool, lower score not equal better stone. Also, the rounding of numbers by GIA in steps of 0.5 degrees for the crown and 0.2 degrees for the pavilion will shift the score anyway.

Girdle variation is ok.

just going by the #s they both look well cut. love the H VS2 combo.

are these being sold as H&A stones? check for clarity, although both are VS2 one might have better clarity.
