This F is still available and an option. The ASET is Above $6600. I kinda like it!

This H was their second favorite. I thought this had the best ASET, but I must not know how to read them... Yes rose gold solitaire so the H color might be ok. I like the shape a lot.

Yes, too bad this one is cloudy. It really was at the top of my range, anyway.

Not sure I like it so chubby. They liked it the best of the three.

Yes, rose gold solitare for sure. Any extra money goes to the honeymoon - it's really one big budget. She'd be happy either way I think, so price isn't the deciding factor.

I think it's between the 1.12 F (the ASET you had) and the 1.18 H.

I agree with your choice of the final two. I would not pick that fat of a marquise unless we knew she liked them. It is outside the range of normally sought after ratio. Don't get me wrong I love a chubby mq, but its not mine, and I'd we don't know she likes it, I say let it go.

I think if it was me I'd get the h, put the money toward an amazing soli and save some for the perfect matching wedding band and your wedding band.

I'm leaning that way. You think the H will be okay with rosegold yeah? Not as noticeably yellow?

Now to pick out the ring. I'm positive she won't like anything etched, engraved, encrusted or bezel. She will want it more modern and sleek, I expect. I posted a bunch above but I don't think I like any of them.

I do not think it would be too yellow. I would do the basket in white gold though, as H next to rose gold miiight just show some tint.

question for you... think she would like it set sideways in an E/W fashion?

I don't think E/W, no. White gold basket is helpful thanks.

Yeah. Just an idea to make it modern, but sounds she just want a classic soli.

I'd pay the extra custom price and get this with a platinum head, yellow gold shank.

I didn't like that one at first, but I'm warming up to it.

Maybe they can modify this one?
More mod.

I like that one! In fact I was wondering how it would look with a marquise, I'm glad you listed it. They can definitely modify that one, I already asked. I lose the warranty on the ring but keep it on the diamond.

This one? I like it too.

What makes it more or less modern? I like both but I'd go with the more 'modern' one, all else being equal.

I've asked them to quote both. I'm most interested in the warranty. Interestingly, even though both are custom, the more modern one you suggested may not be returnable, while the other one would be with a fee. They couldn't confirm that without a custom quote though.

I'd say the lines of the one you suggested are more fluid and classic, the other one has a bit more of a squared off look. That's really the only reason. I mean they are both more simple solitaires, so the feel one way or the other will be subtle.

Got it. Both are nice. And again the whole point of doing this is the return with JA. She can get any ring she wants! I'll be ordering fairly soon and proposing around March 1st on a deserted beach in the Turks and Caicos.

Thank you so very much!

It's finally here! Very excited. I love it, I think she will too. Thank you so much for you help. It's a much MUCH better ring than I could have picked on my own. I'm very appreciative.

Off we go to the Caribbean where I will propose to this amazing woman... wish me luck!

Ah! Its beautiful!!!

Which stone did you end up with?? Which setting? I see you went for the white metal prongs. Good choice!

I was just thinking about you today, actually.

She's going to love it.

Come back with some more pics when you propose. Maybe start a "show me the bing" thread. I am sure people will love to see it.

CirqueDuMort -

I'm SO glad you chose that stone - it was my favorite of all the ones that passed through your thread. Just lovely!

And yes - definitely hand shots! :)

Here's a better shot. JA gives me this 'personal' page, but I won't be using it.

Yeah, I'll show hand shots if/when she accepts, which I think she will.

A little backstory: my first wife and mother of my two teen daughters died some years back from breast cancer. My girlfriend, to whom I'm making this proposal, has been a saint coming into a very difficult situation. She has very lovingly become a member of our family and has selflessly honored the memory of my first wife, especially with my kids. We all feel very lucky to have her. This proposal is a special one.

I say this just to emphasize how grateful I am that you have helped me, a stranger on the internet. I hope you get some good karma back.

Your girlfriend sounds wonderful. Its very sweet of you to male the proposal extra special.

I can't tell, what setting is that, I like how the head is done, it'll allow a wedding band to sit flush

She said yes!

We were on a deserted beach on a distant island of Turks and Caicos in a warm breeze and an orange sunset. I opened the box and asked if I could love her and adore her and court her for the rest of our lives, and she cried and said yes. But not before closing the box and looking deep into my eyes.

After about 10 minutes of that I chuckled and said "Hey, would you take a look at this fancy ring I bought you?" She looked, and said it's lovely, and closed it again. Some minutes later when we were lying on the sand, she said 'I always thought I wouldn't want an engagement ring. I figured I'd prefer to spend the money on travel or adventure. " I thought, "this is one reason I love this woman." and said, honestly, "you can do whatever you want with it, it's yours. We can return it or get a different one."

We kept on our romantic vacation, looking at coral and sharks and squid under the sea and eating and hiking this nearly deserted island above. One night she said "I think I'll wear it to dinner, I might as well get some use of it before we return it."

The next day she did the same thing.

On the third night she says sheepishly "I think I want to keep it." And she hugged me and said she loved it and it's beautiful. Later she said "It was easy to think that I didn't want an engagement ring because it was abstract. I DIDN'T want just any engagement ring. But now I want THIS engagement ring more than anything in the world."

No wedding date set. Thanks again.

Well for one she sounds amazing. Two, I'm glad she loves it, sounds like she deserves it, and three, I'm glad she is keeping it sense you put so much work into it  looks right at home on her hand

Everything sounds perfect! You two are the sweetest couple I've seen on here in some time ::)
