I am still on the search for a new wedding set. Can't seem to make a decision about anything  I know I want an eternity/solitaire combination. I decided to narrow down the eternity first since that is where the largest amount of budget will be spent. I'm looking for bling and low profile. Thinking the stones will be 10-13 points each.

I think I've narrowed it down to...
1) Closed basket with shared prong
2) 1/2 bezel with or without milgrain
3) Lowest set U prong eternity I can find

What do you think? I value your opinions and suggestions! I understand the diamonds look larger in the closed basket because the girdle is resting on top of the metal. Maybe I need to worry about chipped girdles??? I kind of like the 1/2 bezel because it protects the diamonds and there are no shared prongs.

I prefer the bezel!!!!!!!

I prefer the bezel - but full eternity - is that an option? You only seem to have full-eternity listed for your first option.

Thanks motownmama! Yes, it would be a full eternity with a half bezel around the diamonds. Do you prefer with or without milgrain?

I LOVE the 1/2 bezel with milgrain! It gives it a delicate femininity (just MHO). Do you have a picture of your e-ring that the eternity ring will accompany?

love the one with milgrain!

Another vote for the 1/2 bezel WITH milgrain. I think it has a scalloped lacey look. I agree very feminine.

Bezel with milgrain gets my vote.

How big will the solitaire stone be, and how thick/deep/high off the finger will the shank be?
A half-bezel design with 10-13pointers will be a substantial, heavy piece that IMO is likely to overwhelm a smaller/dainty stone in a smaller/dainty setting.

I vote for the one that speaks to you when you put it on your finger.
Things don't have to be "match smatchy" these days.
My 2 cents.

Thanks for the input so far!

Tinabell-I don't have a picture yet of the ring that will accompany the eternity. Below are some I'm considering...

Yssie- My diamond is 1.4 ct. I plan on having the shank/shoulder set to the same height as the eternity. I'm not exactly sure how many mms. If not as high as the eternity, at least close and with a head that won't rub the eternity. It wont be a super dainty ring, probably 2-2.5 mm wide. I understand what your saying though...that's why I'm here :wink2:

WillyDiamond- Agreed! I don't want "matchy smatchy" but have the rings look like 2 distinct pieces that look right together.

***Below are some settings I'm considering. One is a sketch...sorry, I'm no artist. Another is the Michael B Touch. I would get a plain shank. The head might sit up high enough to clear the eternity???

Also, included a profile shot with the eternity and a stock ring at the jewelers that had a head that sat up high enough.

Thoughts?

The design for your e-ring is beautiful! Can't wait to see what it looks like!

I am going to agree with Yssie that 10-13 points in bezels is going to be big with a 1.4 ct solitaire. I really think it is best to complete the e-ring and then try bands. I had a band with 10 point stones but ended up buying and preferring a Tiffany Legacy eternity band with tiny stones much more. I really think you need the e-ring first so you can try different kinds of bands with it.

I agree with Diamondseeker's suggestion to wait until you get the ring. Then see what you like with your ring.

I totally agree that waiting to until your ring is made before looking for a band is a good idea. It's really difficult to try to imagine how something will look on your hand, let alone trying to imagine how two rings will look together on your hand. DS experience is a good example. I recently had an eternity made for my e-ring and determining proper height and stone size was anxiety producing even having had the e-ring already. I'd encourage you to wait. Enjoy the process of creating your engagement ring and then begin the process of creating or purchasing the perfect wedder! =)
