I know you guys don't like I2 diamonds, but that is what i have. My friend who helped with my diamond has now has found another diamond that I can swap for. My current diamond is a very good cut, I I2 2.01 ct that does a have a feather that runs almost all the way across bottom of face. You can see it if you look really good at the ring. The measurements are 8.00x7.93x5.05mm and it has loads of sparkle in any light. The new diamond has about 2 0r 3 small white spots around the outside where the prongs set. It is a I I2 2.08 ct and is only a good cut. It's measurements are 7.89x7.77x5.21mm. It also has loads of sparkle but I have only seen it in the store. The one i have now faces up larger. Can't make up my mind on whether to swap diamond or not. Just wanted to get some opinions.

I'd keep the old one. You lose too much spread.

Assuming you must choose between these two, in my mind the 2.08ct is a worse buy. It's got basically the same stats for carat/color/clarity and it faces up smaller and has a worse cut. Why are you considering it over the 2.01ct; what is it about the 2.01ct that's the main problem? The feather? Unless the feather poses a stability risk to the diamond (and it could), I don't see the advantage of switching to the 2.08ct.

The feather is not near the top looks like it could be maybe middle ways, nothing is really to close to the surface and far as I can wee with my lope. If it does break I do have it insured with SF so it wouldn't be a total loss. I would get back what I paid or replaced with same quality stone. I was thinking my original was better simply because it a very good cut vs good cut. It just bugs me a little, it didn't till my son that's a perfectionist said gosh I couldn't wear this it has a line.

I see! In that case, I agree with you that it's not a good swap because of the drop in cut grade. I'd hold out for a stone that's at least equal to the one you have in terms of stats, and let your friend know that you're looking for something with a less visible clarity situation.
