Which Diamond?

Okay, before asking this, I must request to please let me know which you think is best, and not to say neither and for me to find something better. The first diamond is 1 carat, ideal cut, j color, if clarity. The second is .9 carat, very good cut, f color, vs1 clarity. The first diamond is about $300 more. If you had to choose between these two, which would you choose?

Presuming these are the only two diamonds in the world, you will need to post the measurements and angles. Are these GIA or AGS certifies diamonds? With the measurements, more people can help give you better advice, including an explanation why the ideal cut 1 ct J IF is 300 more than the VG .92 F VS1.

No one can tell you that based on the limited info you provided. We would need table size, depth, crown and pavilion angles to give you an educated guess. As you might imagine, most would not recommend an IF clarity as you are paying for something that is truly not necessary. I like the F, VS combo better but would not settle for very good cut. The one carat stone will trade for more than the .90 based on size alone but you are worlds apart in color and clarity on the two stones so there are obviously other factors that distinguish the difference in price as well.

There are many, many diamonds to choose from in that size range. Not sure why it has to be one or the other of those but if you'd tell us your budget and color and clarity preferences we would be happy to help you find something that combines great cut with color/clarity that you can live with. This forum is dedicated to diamond education and helping someone maximize their budget with the most well cut diamond that can be found within the parameters. This is what we do and we'd be delighted to help you!

Okay makes sense, I will put the measurements on later. As a follow up question then, what diamond, round cut, 1 carat, would be a good one you could buy for about $4,300

If no one responds to this question, let me suggest you examine the tools available here on PriceScope and you will find many options.

There is a diamond search on here at the top in the tabs under 'Resources."

For 4300 I would not go for a full carat in a round. I'd go just under a carat personally from a vendor with a great upgrade policy in a simple solitaire.

But if you must have a carat then these are the stones I would have you consider.

I can't see the lab report of this one but it could be contender too: https://www.solomonbrothers.com/diamonddetail/79436987/shop?affiliate=9318613A-AD0C-4530-A456-0409DFEFB8DE&utm_source=PriceScope
