Hi Everyone,

I'm currently working with a jeweler for two diamonds. My ideal budget is <$5,500 but I'm ok with $6K. Please note both diamonds are eye-clean. Below are both specs:

GIA
Round
Hearts on Fire
1.01 ct
SI2
XXX
H
6.53x6.56
Table 61.0%
Depth 59.2%
$5,900

GIA
Round
1 ct
SI2
Very Good x Very Good x Very Good
H
6.36x6.39
Table 61.0%
Depth 60.9%
$5200

Is getting a XXX vs VGxVGxVG and an extra couple millimeters worth the additional $700?

Thanks!

Is the first one a real HOF branded stone? EDIT - I should have mention the price seems way low for a real HOF plus the table issue.

Neither stone looks that great due to the table size.

Have you seen both in person? do they perform well to your eye?

can your jeweller bring in a few more stones with GIA XXX specs for you to examine?

I agree w Tyty - I'd be concerned the HOF ... may not be a true HOF?? I don't know for a fact, but I also wondered about the table/depth measurements.

@Enerchi @tyty333

You were right, it wasn't a HOA. I could've swore he mentioned HOA over the phone but I must have misunderstood. I decided to go with the first stone. I saw it in person and thought it was a very nice stone. I'm concerned about the table/depth percentages now though... We saw the diamond under spotlight, ambiant light, and the jeweler let us step outside with the stone (I really appreciated that). I don't know if I'm basing my whole decision on it's performance under sunlight. It was awesome! Should I reconsider my purchase? Also, what range would the table/depth % fall - i.e., good, VG, excellent? I've based my research on Brilliance.com so far.

Any input would help! I'm just having buyers remorse
