i posted an earlier topic here but now i'm in a dilemma. linkage i've seen the 1.33 and it's a NICE stone....a VERY NICE stone but i don't know if it's worth the extra money.

questions:

1. does it matter that the HCA for 1.33 falls a little out of the white outline for the AGS even though it's an ideal cut?
2. which stone would you buy and why? (if money wasn't a question..just purely based upon the specs)
3. does one stone has better specs than the other?

1.33ct F VS2 AGS000

Measurements: 7.08 - 7.14 x 4.34
Table: 55.8
Depth: 61.0
Crown: 34.0
Pavilion: 40.8
HCA: .9

OR

1.275ct G VS2 AGS000

Measurements: 6.97 - 6.99 x 4.28
Table: 56.5
Depth: 61.4
Crown: 34.6
Pavilion: 40.7
HCA: 1.1

here are pics of the 1.275!

The numbers are great on both and no I wouldn''t worry if it''s a tiny bit away from the border with those numbers. I would probably choose the cheaper stone since both are so nice and you don''t have to worry about the color or clarity of either.

Agreed, both are nice, it does not matter if the x on the HCA fall out of the white outline for AGS ideal.

i would probably only be able to tell the different between an F and G if they were loose stones, pavilion side up, against a white background in bright lighting.

so my answer....NO.

like others have said, i''d go with the cheaper of the two stones. the size and color don''t differ enough for you to be able to see a difference unless studied closely.

good luck!!

Assuming GIA graded, no I can't - I haven't compared unmounted diamonds, only those which are already set and I can't tell the difference!

You might enjoy this excellent video from GOG, you can see how subtle the colour differences really are.
