Which diamond is better - idealscope images

I looking to decide between 2 diamonds, both are the same weight, G color graded by GIA with Excellent polish, cut, and symmetry (per GIA grading) and no fluorescence.

One is VS2 and the other is graded VS1, however, the HCA gives a better rating to the VS2 diamond. I was able to get idealscope hearts and fire images for both diamonds and I am looking for feedback on which everyone thinks is better.

It is obvious which is the VS2 as you can see the light leakage in the idealscope images at 9 and 10/11 o clock which is why I was a bit surprised the HCA had that one showing as more likely to have more fire (I realize HCA is not perfect and just an initial tool). However, despite those small areas of leakage, I feel like the red intensity throughout the rest of the stone based on these images is a bit better on the VS2 stone. what I don't know is which is better in reality, those small "leaks" but better overall across the rest of the stone, or the near uniformity of the VS1 stone with a bit less intensity throughout.

Feedback from the experts on this would be appreciated...

These look like H&A images not idealscope images.

Edit...Are these stones on-line? Can you provide us with links to the stones? You'll probably get more
feedback.

Sorry...yes I meant these are the hearts and arrows images. I wanted idealscope images but they were not available.

All these will tell you is symmetry. Can you post the certs...you can black out the gia number if you prefer.

Or google the cert number. Some other vendors may have those stones in virtual inventory with idealscope or ASET images.

The angles of the G VS2 are better than the G VS1. But, the VS2 has a cloud as a clarity setting inclusion type. So, this diamond will need to have a gemologist review it to be sure that that inclusion is not impacting light return (think of a snowglobe that scatters light within).

The HCA is an exclusion tool, not selection tool. Any diamond with an HCA under 2.0 is worth further investigation and some diamonds between 0-1 may be better for pendants than rings. That is the limit of the tool.

If I guessed right on budget at about $20k, here are some super-ideals that will also work. WF also has a better tradeup/in policy than JA.

Budget is closer to ~$16k which is what I found the second vs1 diamond at (a little above). There seems to be some concern about the cloud inclusion in the vs2 stone, but not overly much feedback on the second stone I posted.

These are not the only the stones I have looked through. I have weeded out several dozen stones that I didn't like and had narrowed it down to these stones based on the value they offered. I had some concerns on the vs2 because of the inclusions, and the vs1 was a bit on the margins as far as HCA was concerned at 1.9. There is a 30 day return policy, if no one really thinks anything is potentially noticeably bad about the vs1, I am considering getting it and putting it under an idealscope.

The price for the GIA specs/HCA rating seem to make it an extremely good value.

Was planning to invest in an IS.

I am unsure what you are referring to when you say a 36/40.6 combo?

It is not as good as likely to be a solid performer as the first stone based on its angles. It is not a stone most PS members would consider due to the 36 CA without an ASET. .

What are your opinions of this stone?

Waiting on Idealscope images and photos of the stone itself, but the angles appear much better.

Also, I was looking to buy an ideal light source for viewing any diamond I purchase to confirm idealscope performance when it arrives. However, I noticed on the idealscope web site that their ideal light source is not available for USA shipping. Does anyone know where a similar tool/light source can be purchased that can ship to US?

This diamond has great numbers, definitely worth shortlisting. I'd ask about the US shipping with the light source in case there's a way round it.

These are some self taken idealscope photos of the last diamond I mentioned, GIA 1135724799. I am no expert but I think it is pretty good. Also, for anyone referencing this post in the future, the ideallight was discontinued as they basically said it is the same type of light as using a white screen flashlight on a modern cell phone which is why they now sell only the little clear trays instead.

Any more feedback? do I have a winner here before I get past my return period :-)?

Looks great...keep it!

Sorry DH, I just saw this, I think it looks super!
