My cat was hand raised in a program the shelter has where families do that before the kittens are ready to come back to the shelter, be fixed, and adopted.
I got her when she was 9 weeks old.
This explains why she wants to be around people constantly (like a dog). She wouldn''t do very well living outside. I''m sure of that.
OP, I wouldn''t hesitate to use the food you have to feed feral cats or what was most affordable!
