Which Canera Antique Cushion for proposal?? Help please?

I'm thrilled you made a decision that makes you feel good, and confident that she will love it, and it suits her!! That's WONDERFUL! :D
Settings will drive you crazy! Consider a rather simple, but fun option like the trellis, or X shape you can add to the basket/head portion of the ring, hide a tiny diamond to the profile of the ring, or even a colored stone that has significance to both of you. Maybe even simple mill grain detail along the edge of the shank for a little something extra...or add a few small diamonds to the prongs that hold the center stone. Nothing too fussy...just something to add to it...to set it apart from everything else.
Just a few suggestions! Can't wait to see it all put together!
Again...so happy for you!! Blessings to you both!

Hey Groov, just start a thread in RockyTalky. I assume you'll be going with Victors's settings? Lots to discuss and lots to share. Just start the thread and people will jump in. Don't forget to give the basic stats of the stone, and just repeat the info about your intended as you did in a previous post. That will be very helpful as well. Congratulations!! You made a beautiful choice. Your fiance will be floored. i would bet money on it.

Are you set on F? Cos there's a nice looking G IF that's midway between your stone and that F

Not sure if I'm helping or not
I don't know if I'd want to spend an extra $2250 on .2mm extra. On the other hand, it's noticeable if I compare the two. But how much would that translate into real life when she's not comparing it to another one almost the same size?

Hey thank you! Yes, n the F because the G is paired with another can't buy that alone. Yea that's true..only .2mm. The thing is I did a comparison on diamdb.com and it's noticeable..of course it is when lined up next to each other..Thanks for your advice, you might have helped me save some money:)

Aargh I should have read closer to see about that G, sorry! I think the stone you have is gorgeous and will make her very happy. How are you setting it again?

I am thinking about a 4-prong lotus basket. Still afraid 6 prongs would be too much metal.
Can't afford Victor though:(

Shame - his work is lovely! Who are you going to go with for setting then?

Not to sound awful, but how much is Victor's setting? I ask because you were ready just now to spend an extra $2250 for the diamond, and let's assume you were already planning at least $1000 for a setting (based on the description you gave of simple but a bit unique)... that's over $3000 you're mentally ready to spend. Still nothing from him that you like within that range?

A setting is almost as important as the diamond in some ways because it can really highlight it or hide its beauty. Have you narrowed down your choices at all? There are experts here who can recommend settings to fit the budget you want to stay within.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ This!!
What's your setting budget? Are you wanting pavé or anything super fancy alongside the 4 prongs? Also don't you get a discount on either stone or setting if you do both with Victor?

Thanks. Haha yes I thought someone would point that out. The thing is I am from Hong Kong and settings are much much cheaper here and most people do it locally. I think it's due to lower labour cost. A platinum simple setting by casting method costs less than USD800 here. For a hand-forged 4-prong basket setting it should be like USD1200. Although I've read enough about Victor's craftsmanship it's just relatively more expensive, like 200% more.

I'd consider spending more on the stone because nobody deals Euro Round here - also why I'd buy the stone online.

Ok. I see now. You CAN spend the money on Victor but you don't want to because you're ok with a local vendor setting it instead even though the quality might not be as perfect. That's fair enough. But... if you're looking for something unique, I'd stick with Victor as you'll get a discount for buying both the stone and setting from him.

I LOVE that stone!!!

Maybe we could buy them paired IF together lol
It's such a shame they are paired...that diamond is gorgeous, and quite a bit more reasonable in price...

Long shot, but what if you created a thread to see if you could find someone interested in the other stone? If they both sold, you could have the one you want?

Yea..feels like a lot of work though and I already put down a deposit

Hi all, I am reviving this post because although I am already in the process of purchasing this https://www.victorcanera.com/diamonds/jdamuv-1.002-f-vs2-ideal-estimated-old-european-cut,
once again I keep looking at this
https://www.victorcanera.com/diamonds/cmra17-1.098-f-vs1-ideal-estimated-old-european-cut

I asked if the 1.098ct is worth the extra money and now I think it has nicer facet patterns than the 1.002ct plus it can be considered a 1.1ct (can round up like that, correct?).
If money is not too much of an issue although it could mean I lose a little saving, should I go for it?

I do like the faceting and ASET more on the 1.09

That being said, only you can decide if it is worth the extra money. Don't go into debt for a better diamond because there will always be a better diamond!

I would totally go for the F, VS1, 1.098. With an CAC, I would totally be able to see the difference in the faceting pattern and I definitely prefer the more obvious floral pattern. You didn't say how much the difference was but if it's a couple thousand I would do it. From your previous posts it looks like you can afford it. You just didn't want to pay more for his setting but it looks like you are willing to pay more for a stone. For me, it would be worth it.

I agree with pp - I'd want the 1.098 over the 1.002 b/c of the more obvious floral pattern.

I agree. If you can swing it, the 1.098 ct F VS1 has much nicer virtual facets!

I'm a step-Cut girl, but I've learned a thing or two here, at PS, and the 1.098ct diamond is the best of the 2. The price isn't bad for VS1, F, either. Love the floral design that is clearly present.
