Hi,

I am looking for a recommendation on a complete guide to the subject of Diamonds. I am quite aware that no one book can cover this vast subject - but I am looking for something similar to Schumann''s Gemstones Of the World book - but dealing with Diamonds only. The book should have high quality photos that will demonstrate all shapes, grades, inclusions, colors and everything else there is to know about them.

Thanks !!

That's a tough one Garfield. I've been searching for that perfect diamond "Bible" for 23 years and haven't found it yet. If I had the time I'd write it myself.

From a layperson's point of view, I find Renee Newman's "Diamond Ring Buying Guide" to be very practical and helpful.

Here's the Amazon URL address on it:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0929975324/ref%3Dnosim/lksmsubsite-sub-bk-asin-20/103-6478357-2968667

I just bought that book (Newman's) and was hoping for some "eye candy" but the e-rings are hideous! Shame. Otherwise, it's a good book.

The Diamond Bible? Definitely the Fred Cuellar book.....

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA........I should note here that I am just kidding.

Which one would you recommend from this distinguished list:

I don't think any of those are what you're really looking for, but the GIA Diamond Dictionary probably comes the closest.

That, maybe in combination with one of the two diamond grading books, might begin to cover the range of information you're looking for.

Concerning Diamond Information and content I would cast a vote for the PriceScope tutorial.

U might also consider - Diamond Grading ABC: The Manual - by Pagel-Theisen - 2001 - complete, but oriented to the European view of things, or "Diamonds", 2nd ed., by Bruton, 1972 - dated but an excellent ref. source of the time - also difficut to find, but there are a few extra copies out there :-), and finally, a more lightweight approach, but informative - "The Nature of Diamonds" by Harlow, 1998 - inexpensive in paperback.
