I recently visited a Pearl Farm in Western Australia where I purchased some loose South Sea Pearls direct from the farm. I am wanting to have them set back in Mlebourne, Pendant and Earrings.

Can anyone recommend any reputable jewellers in Melbourne that specialise in setting loose pearls at a reasonable price?

Thanks

I purchased them from Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, about 200km north of Broome.

I did the 1hr tour - $20 and it was FANTASTIC, a real insight into the history of the farm and how pearls are cultured. The farm has only just opened to the public so it''s very much a rough and rustic working farm and I thought it was great to see it from the inside. Once the tour is over the chef makes you a yummy morning tea and you sit down and they just bring out boxes of pearls. Mostly loose pearls and pre-drilled strands. However they were in the process of building a gallery which will showcase jewellery as well. This was due to be finished in a few weeks.

Very much work the visit :)

wow, what a location!

thanks for the info.

I inherited a Mikimoto necklace from my MIL, I took it to Grounds Jewellers on Little Collins St to have it cleaned and restrung. I also had a single pearl that they matched for me to make a pair of earrings. I was really happy with their service and the price they charged me.

did you go there to get a better selection?

costs of travel, room, and food would certainly add to the price of any purchases made there.

however, the education is certainly "priceless".

Hi MZ

I was actually on holiday with some friends at Cape Leveque which is 10km from the Pearl Farm. I read about the Pearl Farm when I was doing research on things in the area, so I called the pearl farm and they told me they had just opened their doors to the public and were doing tours of the farm and selling pearls direct to the public, so we headed there to check it out and absolutely loved the experince. I just learnt so much.

Since I returned home I have contacted the farm to buy another pearl. I delt with a fantastic girl there called Anna, I told her what I was looking for and she sent me photos of different options and I chose one. I paid by cc and the pearl arrived by registered post a week later. It was even more beautiful than in the photo. I will definitely be contacting them again when I have saved for some pearls to make earrings.

cheers
