Where to find halo settings/semi mounts? And show me!

Hey all,

My mom is searching for a 20 anniversary upgrade/setting change and I told her about pricescope and that online would be the best resource. Now it's my responsibility to research! :loopy: She has a 1 carat round brilliant diamond that she intends to keep but is hoping to buy a setting only (which might be problematic?) from somewhere and have them set the stone in it or have a local jeweler do it.

I think she's leaning towards having a halo around the stone, but no diamonds on the band. Anybody have suggestions? Photos of any and all halos are appreciated, along with where you got them! THANKS!!

Personally I can recommend DanielM on etsy, he is doing my reset and he and his wife are absolutely wonderful to deal with. He has quite reasonable prices and does very nice custom work. He is the only one I have personally worked with so the rest are those I have only read about or had email contact with. Natascha: Thanks so much for your suggestions. That setting at eternity diamonds is GORGEOUS (and way under her budget). I'm going to show her that. Do they sell semi-mounts? I think she wants to do no more than 1300 for a setting. This might limit her a little, but I think it can be done. THANKS AGAIN!

Yes they sell semi mounts separate from the center stone. With that budget she could go with eternity diamonds, danielM and I am pretty sure ID jewelry is doable too and I am sure there are others.

Knox jewelers won't sell their semi-mounts without one of their stones in it. You can't even send them one of your stones to set :(sad .
I was thrilled when I discovered their site but when I contacted them they said "Sorry, no." It's in their policies on their website but I contacted them to make sure. It's really too bad because their settings are so pretty...

I purchased a Beverly K setting from Pearlman's several years ago that I love. They set a yellow sapphire for me that I had purchased elsewhere. I can't recall if it's within your mother's budget, but it was close...

Sorry for thread jacking. I am in love with that setting, did it cost extra to have it made for an oval?
 
Thank you everybody!! I appreciate all the great suggestions. My mom fell in love with a Whiteflash halo (just out of her price range, of course). Thanks Tuckins for suggesting them.


Anyone have custom work at Whiteflash? What are there prices like? I'll probably start another thread on this because you're all so helpful. Thanks again!!! :D
 
HI, I'm actually getting a semi-custom halo done at Whiteflash right now...its the Amphora but w/a square halo for my Princess cut. I cant speak for the quality bc I havent received it yet but I can say that EVERYONE has been A DREAM to work with and if you tell them your budget you just might be able to get what you want. I was VERY SURPRISED at what they were able to do for me once I told them what my limit was :-) GOOD LUCK and what a nice bgift for mom!!!

That's the one she wanted! I think she wants to modify something on the band, I'm not too sure. Is it wildly pricey to get custom work done there? She's afraid of what the quote might be...I think they're worth it though!
 
Actually, it wasnt that bad. They called it a "semi-custom" bc they are using the Amphora that they have and then re-shaping the halo. Bc they are not completely building a ring from scratch it is only semi custom and then I can still return it if I am not happy (not as easy with a custom ring). I am sure a small change wont be bad. Call them and ask. I am so glad I did. I didnt think I could afford it but between the stone i bought through them and the semi-custom ring they gave me a great price (dont forget you get a PS discount)!
