I have a 9mmx7mm emerald cut pink sapphire that i would like to put into a simple cathedral 10kt or 14kt white gold setting. I have checked ebay (risky i know, but this stone is not one of my favorites so i don''t need the "best" quality, just an ok setting) and i have not came up with much. Any suggestions for good online stores? Also, would I need to buy a different setting for a stone that was an "octagon cut" as opposed to an "emerald cut"? Thank you for your help.

I don''t think you''ll save much, if any, ordering a simple setting online. The main reason is that then you''d still have to pay someone locally to set the stone for you. I suggest going to a reasonably priced jeweler in your area and ask them what inexpensive settings they could order for you. If you buy the setting from them, then they may set the stone for free or for a reduced price.

overstock.com has some very nice settings at crazy low prices. Their Tacori''s are literally half the price as B&M (note, no guarantees or services). You may want to find a trusted local jewelry tech that does custom work, who can help you pick a ring to be fitted.

I''m guessing something like this could be fitted with a different prong and stone.
