Does anyone know a way to eliminate the chaff from the wheat when it comes to shopping locally?

I''m in LA, and looking for loactions that are honest, helpful and have the patience and care
and selection of ideal cuts where I can see the
difference between, i.e. more firey or brilliant
stones.

Really, coming the Internet for advice on actually "looking" at diamonds is probably not the best place for that advice. I'd suggest going anywhere you want out your way and looking a whole lot. When you know what you want, or before, inorder to get a hnadle on your budget, use the Pricescope search and get a feeling of what needs to be spent and what you can find via the Internet.

Then go out and compare what you are being offered. Be strong. Don't be impulsive. Write down your findings and then go back to pricescope and research the numbers. At that point, you'll be ready.
