Where do you buy your eggs? White or brown?

Unfortunatly while im not working ive had to go back to buying non free range eggs
I feel really bad about it but its a financial decision and i have to make ends meet by compromising on some things
I buy a tray of 20 #6 eggs for about $6 - durring the lockdown the price went up to more like $8
Gary would prefer #7's and id prefer free range
The smaller size doesn't seem to effect my baking and a single sussage will cover a hard boiled one for a scotch egg
one day (soon) when im working again im thinking about rehoming some factory hens and let them retire to my back yard - there is an organisation that matches up old girl chooks to people who would like a few pets rather than egg layers .

You want them to lay eggs for you? You will need a rooster. Sorry for your financial struggles.

Oh no, just as pets
for their rerirement, after they have lived all their lives in a shed

we'll be ok
we could almost manage on Gary's retirement if it wasn't for property taxes, so even minimum wage would be ok but after a lifetime of putting up with sh** with work I'd really like to work with nice people

and ive learnt lots of lessons about saving money and also ive become a better home cook

The farm close to me is selling eggs 10 cents each fresh that day. farmer's markets are closed in my area so lots of farmers are going direct if they can. The food is better tasting I can say that for sure! I buy 1-2 dozen at a time whatever he has. he's got LOTS of chickens though (all free range)
