Where do style names come from? e.g. Halo

There are lots of style names I see posted here.
Some are obviously from the designer etc

But Halo and others - were any actually invented here that went on to become standards?

interesting- i learned all my terminology on PS and then spoke to a local jeweler and he corrected me. he said a Halo, like an angel, is stones that go around a center stone, but with an airline. As if the angels halo floats above and around her head. When the stones do not have an airline- he called that a frame. That makes sense...but it seems like all the PS''ers only use the term halo.

i also know that "mickey mouse ears" is a very official jewelers term.
