Hi- I have just discovered the unique look of these old mine diamonds and have fallen in love. I have been looking at AGS0 stones as cut and brilliance are #1 for me. My question is whether these old mine cut diamonds can be equally as beautiful and where I can get a really nice one. Google didn''t really pan out. Is there specific terminology used to identify these stones. I am not opposed to getting a vintage stone but want an H or better with the best cut possible. Also, how does one rate the cut on these on paper, can the HCA be used for the round old mine brilliants. I am in love with the stone in this thread and want something similar although it is probably larger than what I can get with 12K but the fire is amazing. Any help would be appreciated

BostonJeff's beautiful OMB is something of a legend! The HCA only works for traditional rounds, not for these shapes.

You can try www.goodoldgold.com also www.engagementringsdirect.com and ask them to find you one similar to BJ's as far as possible, an 8 pavilion main OMB or cushion brilliant. Mark at ERD was involved in sourcing BostonJeff's diamond. Check out the GOG August Vintage Cushion, if there isn't one available in the size you want contact Jon to see what he has in the pipeline. Also GOG have the August Vintage Rounds which you might like, looking at your title it appears you are interested in round shapes also.

Also try,

www.jewelsbyericagrace.com

www.oldworlddiamonds.com

www.singlestone.com

I will also throw Leon Mege into the mix. He has been sourcing cushions and there are a couple that popped up on PS lately.

If you want top quality cut performance, the GOG August Vintage is the way to go. You can get a nice new Antique Cut cushion from other vendors but I personally do not believe the light performance compares. With the true antique stones, it will be harder to find one in the higher colors and clarity.
