Faycullen.com has some rings like this, and I think they are going to be adding some new ring mountings as well that will be somewhat similar. It''s going to be hard to find a stock setting for a cushion though, rounds are easier. But you could always do a custom job. I had a ring somewhat similar (without the halo), custom made by brian at knoxjewelers. It is still not quite done, but I''m attaching the cad and the unfinished metal work. The nobby part between the leaves and the shank will be rounded off and trimmed down to look more like the one in your picture. Brian at knoxjewelers has been incredible to work with, very patient and has great attention to detail.
Vatche has several new styles similar to this. Under platinum, click on solitaire, and then scroll down. The last two or three rows have settings like this.
Yes you can get this made. I have a similar setting that I designed and had Whiteflash make. I have an octagonal Halo with a Round diamond in the center.
Don''t know what it''s called... those Vatches are great though I would definitely have a look. As for custom. Terms are nice... but pictures are the most important thing with custom projects. Cuts down on confusion.
Ditto on that Gypsy! Pictures say it all, and they also form as a written agreement better than descibing words. If there is a mistake, the vendor could always say that he misinterpreted your description, but it would be harder to deny that something doesn't look like the picture. Also, if only using terms be as specific as possible. For an arbitrary example, say you want the diamond to be set low. Instead of saying, "I want the diamond set low," say "I would like the culet of the diamond to rest 1mm or less from the top of my finger." Very specific language is useful. I learned this the hard way my first go at custom with my ering (not the ring project above).
Thanks to Virginia (another Pser on here who has had custom work done) I made up a powerpoint presentation for my custom queries. And MAN did that simplify. I highly suggest it.
I put a series of pictures in it, and wrote why I included each one.
For example... with the pic you posted in the topic post. I would post that one and say, "this picture demonstrates what I''d like the the setting to look like from the side. Please note the petal like .... blah, blah, blah."
