When I look at the side by side picture, I had initially thought the 2.54 is the bigger diamond.

However I think since you have already spend some time with the 2.71 ct, you are used to its size, you will noticed the size difference. And it will be hard to go down in size. I personally would stay with the 2.71, if money is not an issue, given other specs are the same.

All the best to you in deciding.

@rockysalamander
The first IS image is the 2.71 carat
Second is the 2.5 carat
Aside from price difference ( 2.71 carat is ~$1500 more) I would appreciate if you let me know which is the better diamond and why. I want to learn something.

What are your thoughts! Thank you!!!

Both pass the IS. The 2.5 shows more precision and consistency. But, it's hard to say if you will see that in person. Either will still be better than most you see. Ignoring size and price, I'd probably choose the one with a cleaner face-up view. You see inclusions more as size increases.you havery the larger. Do you like it?

Wow thanks for the fast reply! ( I wish I can be your apprentice)
2.71 so again I am not sure if I am such a novice that I don’t see the inclusions as well as some experts in this forum... but the 2.71 is eye clean

Do you think the 2.5 has more contrast in the center than 2.71? I don’t see leakage, but the light pink across the center of the stone indicates to me that there will be more contrast in 2.5 than 2.71....
Thoughts?

@Matthews1127 I am glad that you posed that question. I am confused about this too.I have read the more red, more brilliance. So then 2.71 is “more “ red overall so is this a good thing vs the contrast 2.54 has?

Contrast, within a Diamond is nice. Again, it’s all about personal preference. Contrast can give a diamond dimension, and character, whereas, leakage makes the stone dark or dull. Two totally different effects; one positive & one negative.

2.71 ct... all day long.

I would not rate on or the other more or less pink. The lighting is not the exact same intensity. It's not perfect, but you expect leakage fron the culet. So, you can view that degree of leakage as a control and visually subtract that. So, you are looking for more white than the culet.

@Allen james,
I’m not certain if you have acquired all of the information, or input you were hoping for, at this point, but I’d say you have enough to make an informed decision, especially since you hold the 2.71 in your hand. The advantage is yours; up close & personal observation is the BEST way to evaluate a diamond. The only thing left to do is to sit the two stones in question side by side, table down, to compare color. Face up & louped for clarity, and to determine if YOU can see a visual difference in size. A difference significant enough to convince your wallet to hand over more $$$. Compare their performance in different lighting environments, and make your decision.
The rest is all fluff. They are tight competitors. It comes down to you, now. ;)2

Thanks everyone! Aside from my dilemma, it was a great learning experience hope to learn more about aset, IS, contrast etc. soooo much to learn!!
