I understand why it''s in poor taste for the close family of the bride/groom to throw the shower... but what about a sister that is the MOH? The MOH traditionally organizes the shower. My sister wants to throw my shower, and she''s still in college so my mom will probably be helping her a lot. Is that tacky?Date: 11/3/2008 5:31:06 PM

Here in the Chicago area we throw showers a few months before the wedding, and they are usually hosted in a private home or at a fabulous little restaurant. I''ve been to one shower on a boat on Lake Michigan, which was a lot of fun, too.
And, just FYI--it is considered poor taste for close family of the bride or groom (namely: parents) to throw a shower, since the purpose of the shower is to ''shower'' the bride with gifts.

It''s probably not ideal, but these days I think it''s more ok than it has been in the past. Especially if the BM''s together are throwing it, if that is the case.
