Seeing as how it''s Halloween time I thought this would be an appropriate question. Here are my top few:

1. 28 Days Later (I love zombie movies even though they terrify me!)
2. Blair Witch Project (I have been lost in the woods and that movie makes me cringe!)
3. Resident Evil (All of them- they are creepy, and Mila Jovovich rocks!
4. 13 ghosts (It just creeps me out that you can''t see them)
5. Sixth sense (Just makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up)

Add yours, maybe we can come up with a great list of must see horror flicks!

Sleepy Hollow (with Johnny Depp)
Thinner
Psycho

I''m not a Halloween fan, But I love scary movies!!

Se7en
Ammityville Horror
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Sixth Sense

In no particular order:

Hostel
The Ring
Blair Witch Project
13 Ghosts
Psycho

There''s a few more but these are the ones I thought of first.

Halloween 1 (original)

Shining

Altered States

my top 5

1. House on Haunted Hill (not the Haunting but House on Haunted Hill where they are in the old psycho hospital)
2. The Blair Witch Project
3. The Hills Have Eyes
4. The Birds
5. Saw

I like ones that mess with your mind, or ones based on things that COULD potentially happen. I really enjoyed 28 days later as well. Those are the ones that freak me out. Although I strongly believe in ghosts so to me it all could happen, but I mean like the whole radiation warping people, or widespread disease, birds going crazy lol, or someone holding people hostage and killing them, those are the ones that really freak me out. I couldn''t sleep after all of the movies listed above, and I''m a scary movie buff. I can''t WAIT For TOMORROW when I get to start my scary movie and TV show binge (SO EXCITED!!)

Everyone I know that has seen this movie is SO freaked out by it and hated it! But I liked it. I thought it was funny.

I absolutely hate scary movies for the most part, but I really enjoyed The Sixth Sense. (Once I could sleep again, anyway.) I really liked the plot for The Ring too, but the ending was crap. Plus that movie freaked me out for MONTHS...I still don''t even like looking at the cover of the DVD in stores. Ack.

I forgot about the shining!! Jack Nicholson is sooo totally whacked out in that movie, it''s awesome! Those twin girls really creep me out!!

I'm going to vote for Saw and The Ring to be on the DO NOT SEE list.

I laughed all the way through The Ring. I kept thinking of watching it on a 13" b&w. Get through that tv, b!$%^! And, the first time I saw Saw, I turned to DH and said "somebody should check that guy." So, when he finally stood up I knew I had wasted almost 2 hours of my time.

eta~ I forgot about the Shining, too. So good! What's that movie with Christopher Walken, the Prophesy?? That was good, too.

You sound just like me... I love scary movies (even if they give me nightmares) and October is horror movie-fest for my husband and me!!

I think I''ve seen The Exorcist at least a dozen times and I always love it.

Don''t know if they qualify as Halloween scary but I like the Hannibal lecter movies.

The Hills Have Eyes 1 and 2--horrifying in a gross, makes my skin feel weird sort of way

Saw Movies in general--very creepy.

The Texas Chainsaw Movies (recent editions, both the original and the beginning)--probably the scariest scary of them all!

I''m glad someone else likes 13 Ghosts. The first time I saw it was when I was working my way through a friend''s collection in college of movies he had burned to dvds (back when this was hot new technology) and I had never heard of it before, but I loved how much it freaked me out!

Other favorites are 28 days later, Carrie, Candyman(although I saw this at a sleepover and have no idea if it was actually good or just fun to watch with a group of easily scared teenage girls).

When I saw this I just had to post. I am a HORROR movie freak. Even get the Fangoria magazine.

The Exorcist....I had to stop watching. I had nightmares and had to turn on a light. The next day, hubby said, "why are you watching the rest? If your going to sleep with the lights on again, go sleep on the couch."

Gates of Hell (Lucio Fulci) I couldn''t get passed 20 minutes...someday I''m going to watch the whole movie.

Love The Evil Dead 1 & 2
Army of Darkness
Hard Candy
Feed
All of the Subspecies
Nosferatu (1922)

Franly, I can stand the saw movies. The plotholes are so big you can drive a train through them, I couldn't stop laughing at the end.

I love the shinning.
Session 9 is one of my all time favorites and no one has ever seen it. Anyone who likes good horros should check it out.
I like the descent and silence of the lambs a lot as well.

Also, I know it isn't "scary" but Shawn of the dead is the best zombie movie ever

Without a doubt, The Exorcist. Scared the living bejesus out of me, and I saw it in broad daylight with a crowd of people.

How about The Exorcism of Emily Rose? Anyone?

I LOVE scary movies, or should I say "psychological thrillers". These movies don''t actually scare me, but are my favorites!

The Silence of the Lambs
Saw
Psycho
The Exorcist

Also:

Alien

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (all 3 versions, but 1978, especially)

The Thing (1982 version)

Fire in the Sky - harrowing alien abduction/exam scene! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=related&v=65BnvhQqtYg)

Rosemary''s Baby

Jacob''s Ladder

I ditto #s 1 and 3. I love, love, love any zombie movies. So my list would be all 3 Resident Evils, 28 days later and 28 weeks later. There are a few other zombie movies that I can''t remember the names of.

Also 30 days of night (think that''s the name).

I know Bigfoot docs are not Halloween movies but they scare the crap out of me, plus there are some good scary movies about bigfoot, The Legend Of Boggy Creek (1972), Boggy Creek II: And The Legend Continues (1985), The Legend Of Bigfoot (1976), also Rawhead Rex. Truly disgusting! Day of the Animals, Prophecy (1979) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prophecy_(film), while that last one had Armand Assante in it, (eye candy) it scared the crap out of me!!!

The words "favorite" and "scary movie" do not belong in the same sentence together, LOL!

i HATE scary movies. I jump. And scream. And freak. And - yeah. I''m a big wuss with the scary movies, LOL. I''ll go if forced, but generally prefer not to, LOL.

I am apparently incredibly entertaining for everyone around me though...

I knew I would remember more! I forgot some of my other faves-

Hellraiser
Puppet Master
Re-Animator
Henry
Phantasm
Salem''s Lot
Graveyard Shift 1 and 2 (not the Steven King version, though I love him!)
Hell Night

My friend has a collection of horror movies from Japan and we will have a movie day to watch them. I love seeing If I can be creeped out.

I actually read Rawhead Rex in a collection of horror stories. Disturbing!

Salem''s Lot!!!(original one), Nosferatu, American Wherewolf in London, The Howling movies.
