Since I am a beginner.............tell me what''s wrong with this diamond?

I believe that there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to radiant cuts. The fact that Blue Nile doesn''t provide you with additional images would be my largest concern. It is a lot of money to spend on something when you are buying blind.

Things to keep in mind about that stone.
- The colour J won''t be a very very bright white. That is personal choice though and there are many who prefer colours like J to colourless diamonds.
- The IF clarity grade means that you won''t have to worry about possible eye visible inclusions since Blue Nile won''t provide you images but you are also paying a premium for that IF grade. Unless you are specifically looking for a diamond with that grade you could save a bit of money by looking at the VS1/2 and even SI1 grades.

The following would be reasons to think twice about most diamonds, which might be worth considering for your diamond (although perhaps less significant for extremely large, expensive or unusual stones):

Polish grade less than very good.
Didn't the cutter have pride in their work? If they didn't take pride in the finish grade, they may have not taken much pride and care in the cutting, either.

Symmetry grade less than very good.
Relative lack of symmetry can make the "on paper" angles meaningless because tha facets are mis-aligned.

An older-dated diamond.
Why has a diamond sat on the market for a long time? I'd say that more than a year is cause for concern.

Very strong blue fluor.
This isn't necessarily bad, but popular belief is that all VSB stones will be cloudy and nasty looking. While the reality is that most VSB stones are optically as good as a non-fluor stone, the public are persuaded to avoid them as a result of the bad reputation. That means lower prices, if you like fluor stones (I have several fluor stones).

J colour.
In such a large diamond, the "warm" body colour will be obvious, so will be off-putting to some people. I would also say that flawless clarity is rather a mis-match (too high) for a J colour stone.

Radiant cuts also hold or trap color, actually intensifying the body color of the diamond material. That is why that cut is used for fancy colored stones. So a J color radiant is not the same as a J color RB. It will appear much more tinted. You may like this, but sight unseen it may be a risk.

I am not thinkinf of buying this stone.

I just want to get people''s opinion on why such a large stone that is IF but only J color would sell so cheaply.

I am trying to learn so my purchase is more educated.
