I believe it was ~1500AUD for my Chloe Bay Bag..

this pic was when she was brand new - now I feel bad that I need to polish the leather, as she''s a little more beat up these days

I bought a LV epi leather bag large enough to hold files after I graduated from law school. My DH (BF at the time) escorted me out the store with the large bag. He noticed a woman eying my bag with envy. Haha, a proud, but kind of shallow moment. They don''t make bag anymore, and I''ve had several people ask to buy it if I ever tire of it - which I don''t think I will. I don''t always use it, because I don''t want it to wear out.

I''ve purchased bags in the several hundred range, but they tend to be bigger bags meant for everyday use that need to stand up to the abuse I subject them too! The only thing I refuse to pay a lot for are clutches. They don''t see worth it for the small scrap of material.

Now Madame Bijoux, that is one awesome bag!!! I''ve got a lot of saving to do for that!!!

I bought a LV for about $650. to reward myself when I got out of rehab. I also bought myself a micropave diamond wedding band for $2500. Husband was NOT PLEASED, but I WAS.

My most expensive one so far is the size 35 Bleu de Prusse Birkin ($9520.00 USD plus 6% sales tax).

thank god my wife is not into handbags.

I have two Chanel reissue totes, one in bronze, one in black that were the most expensive. Maybe $2,700 each? I can''t really remember since my husband bought them. He is a prince. My designer bag collection is pretty varied, Chanel, Balenciaga, Prada, Alexander Wang, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, some other designers, but no LV for some reason.

Honestly, when I figured out how much I was spending on bags and shoes I thought I should think about some more bling. Although I am thinking about another Chanel....

Btw. how about shoes, lol.

I bought a Marc Jacobs multi-pocket a couple of years ago and I love it!! It was so worth the money because this is a bag that I can use daily and it will hold up fantastically.

For me, it is this one.

LV Mahatten bag. But I didn''t buy it, was a gift from my husband.

75?

I love my Coach and have carried it for years. My DH gave it to me for my birthday and it was around $300. I''ve been through lots of Gucci, Dooney and Coach purses over the years, but still use my Dooney wallet and Coach purse that I received from DH. The wallet was $300, too.

We looked at LV while we were visiting Las Vegas and I told DH not to touch anything....he had no idea what they cost!

Spending $10,000 on a purse frightens me. I love the beauty of Madam Bijoux'' Hermes bags, but I do not think I could bring myself to spend so much on one unless I were in an entirely different financial bracket. I will spend money on a house or a piece of jewelry, because it lasts, even if I would be better off putting the money in the bank, before I would spend it on an expensive bag. If I were Mlinda Gates, I might not hesitate, however.

Ditto Deb.

Gosh, I can''t remember the prices, but I have 3 Chanels and a Chanel wallet.
I think maybe $2800.00 , $3,000.00 + and $2,100.00

that''s about as high as I''m willing to go.

I have several of the older Dooney & Burke purses that were a few hundred dollars each back in the day, some on sale, some from their store in Ohio...still in great shape, but each one of them weighs more than anything I would actually put in it, so I don''t use them hardly at all.

I finally pulled the trigger about 3 years ago on a $400+ Coach bag that I got on eBay for about $180. I actually used it for over a year straight and switch back to it every now and then, but I''ve decided that I like to change my style of purses too much to blow that kind of money on one again anytime soon...

CDNinNYC that bag is to die for! I love Bottega Veneta.

AGBF, that's exactly how I felt until the H bug bit me (it's powerful when it bites)!

FancyDiamond, your bag is a beauty.

Wear it well.

love the pictures!

everything posh: sounds drool worthy--any pics?

dancing fire: eek on the pronounciation--maybe you''re right about the correlation between that and buying one!
emwink.gif

agbf: I think that''s the whole idea--it''s out of our financial bracke which is what keeps it exclusive! I think those who buy the birkin generally are aware of the statement it makes. Now if someone who is making a more normal income (most of us!), then I would agree it is not a smart purchase!! However some would say it can last a lifetime like jewelry. I consider both jewelry and designer bags to be in the same splurge category. Different from houses, etc.

madam bijoux: as an Hermes connoisseur, have you ever been to their sample sale in nyc? How about the store in Paris?

as for me I have my eye on the LV Tivoli. But not sure if I should look for something that''s bigger and can hold practical things (baby items and commuting "stuff."). It''s 1K for the small one..really quite a bit more than I''ve ever spent on a bag. Seeing what others have spent is helping me justify it though! The hard part is I know it''s cheaper in Paris AND I was just there. So kind of hard to buy something I know I could''ve gotten cheaper...but the urge is strong and I may have to give in!

Hi,v Janinegirly! I''ve never been to the sample sale in NY or to the Paris store. I''ve heard that the NY sample sale can get very hectic. I got all of my bags from the King of Prussia store.

it was a coach sabrina patent leather green bag when they first came out

I only had it for a few weeks, and decided it wasn't right for me... but boy was the material sooooo gorgeous!

Okay, I lied. I just spent $113 on a Coach bag at the factory store. My 8 millionth cheap bag split on a seam and I got sick of it and bought one that will hopefully last a little longer!!!

Okay ladies, let's stop messing around.
Can we get serious?
Snip-O-Rama

Ginza Tanaka’s purse – $1.9 million

The most expensive purse in the world is a unique bag created by Japanese jewelry house Ginza Tanaka.
It shouldn’t surprise you that the most expensive purse is covered in diamonds—over 2,000 diamonds totaling 208 carats, in fact—but the bag’s other features make it truly special.

For one thing, the rest of the bag is made of platinum, a very difficult metal to work for such a project.
For another, the strap and clasp can be detached and worn as a necklace and brooch.
It’s almost as if they expect someone to actually use this bag!

The luxurious handbag will be on display in several stores across London during the first ever London Jewellery Week.
It’s being offered by jewelry shop Nicholas James for the phenomenal price of £1 million (nearly US $2 million).
