whats the difference between Mark Morrell Petite Torchiere and Torchiere???

i know its a silly question but could someone please explain to the the difference. i went on his website but didnt get it?

I believe it is the width of the band. The petite torchiere is slightly thinner.

Petite Torchiere is 2.5mm band width

Classic Torchiere is 3mm band width

I think the taper in the regular Torchiere is a bit more pronounced than in the Petite version as well.

If I''m not mistaken, I think the Petite is also slightly cheaper, but not by much.

At first, I also had trouble discerning the difference between the Flame and the Torchiere as well, because they have the exact same crown. Their difference comes down to the band. The Flame is straight around, and the Torchiere has a slight tapering towards the center stone, and in my opinion, more sensual curves.

I think typically people send him their diamonds. I don''t think that he typically sources center stones, but I could be wrong. I haven''t worked with him directly...

This is what I think you should do (based on my transaction with him):

1) If you''re not sure what to do, call or email him, telling him your intentions of purchasing his setting. He''ll probably thank you for your interest but he cannot proceed any further until you have bought your center stone. Mark will provide the accent stones should you want the little diamonds on the prongs of the crown. Also, Mark does not accept loose stones from the customer, it must come DIRECTLY from the company that you purchased your loose stone from.

2) Purchase your loose stone. Before purchasing, make sure you talk to your diamond dealer telling them that you wish to have the stone set by a different jeweler. I used Whiteflash, but you can use anyone. Be sure to give them EXPLICIT instructions, that they are NOT to send you your diamond, and that you are requesting to have it sent to Mark Morrell.

3) Once you have purchased your loose stone, tell Mark Morrell immediately. If your diamond company hasn''t worked with Mark before, make sure that you let Mark know that you have purchased the stone. He will conduct a survey with you to ensure that you are purchasing exactly what you want. You will have to settle payment with both your diamond dealer and Mark Morrell before anything happens. Once payment has been done, make sure that the diamond dealer and Mark have contact with each other so that they can do the arrangements for when the stone will arrive to him.

4) After that, everything else will fall into place, when Mark is finished, he will send the ring back to the diamond dealer, and in turn, they will send the ring to you. This process can take about 6 weeks (depending on Mark''s schedule).

People often say to me, "wow isn''t it risky to buy all of this online", or "are you sure you can trust them?", or "how do you know you''re getting the diamond you purchased?"

I would tell you that doing it this way, buying a loose stone and having it delivered to a custom jeweler, is probably MORE safer (in my opinion), than buying the stone and setting from the same place. Here''s why:

- Mark WILL verify that the stone being set is the one sent from the diamond company. He will check the ID inscribed on the diamond based on what the company sends, along with the independent appraisal certificate(s).
- One Mark is finished, he will sent it back to the diamond dealer. The diamond dealer will have to independent VERIFY his work, to ensure that Mark has set in the correct diamond, before they send it to you.
- with two independent verifications, unless both companies are working in collusion, I would find it hard for them to scam you since they are both checking each other''s deliverables. Buying and diamond and setting from one company, you won''t be able to tell if you got the diamond you purchased, unless you got it independent appraised after.

I hope this helps. Working with Mark and Whiteflash was a wonderful experience.
