Whats Required For Polygon Membership

I have been researching diamonds and the diamond retail industry for about 2 years now soaking up as much information as possible. I have dealt with other industries as far as obtaining a business tax id and purchasing products wholesale. I am wondering for polygon what would be acceptable to polygon as a good trade reference. As far as I can see a business license would be acceptable. Is there a veteran diamond seller that has used polygon be able to help me out. Also with polygon is it common for diamond dealers to sell diamond inventory without having the diamonds in hand and distribute the diamond after the consumers purchase.

Get a license to do business, get three jewelry trade people to give you a business reference and get a business card. It is no big deal to join Polygon so long as you pay your montly or annual fees. If you want to trade, buy or sell diamonds it is a decent platform. There are a few excellent people who will do business with you once you prove you are really a "good guy".

Bear in mind that this is no panacea for buying things 'wholesale'. Polygon members are each individual businesses and just because you are a member doesn’t mean that they will sell to you, and just because they will sell to you doesn’t mean that you will like the terms, prices or payment conditions. It’s a handy platform for sharing information about what they have for sale but, in the end, each deal is one business doing business with another, just like it’s always been.

Mostly Poly listings are people who physically hold the stone, at least at the moment, although they may not own it themselves.
