I'm so jealous of everyone's gorgeous flowers! There are some amazing gardens/flowers posted here. One of the bad things about living in the city is that I REALLY miss having green space. I've never been good at growing flowers, though -- my mom is, but she wouldn't let me near her flowerbeds because I never knew what "weeds" to pull and which to leave

.

Not sure whether my little quasi-garden counts here, but I'm doing what I can with the space I've got -- tomatoes are in the two large round orange pots at the far end and the black pot closest to the camera, sweet basil in the rectangular pot farthest from the camera, oregano in the small round pot, and pineapple sage, mint, and cilantro in the closer rectangular pot (ignore the other, empty pots under the window -- they used to have spring annuals that are past now). This is about half of our balcony real estate, and I've thought of trying more containers of other veggies in the rest of the space, but haven't gotten around to it yet. We'll see how ambitious I feel, although if I'm going to do it, I'll have to do it soon...

Yes, Octavia...we love to see all kinds of gardening. Have you ever tried the earth box?? I have a few (don't have it set up for this year, though). They are fantastic for tomatos.

I''ve finally gotten the garden in order from the neglect the previous owners bestowed upon it. We moved in too late last year to do anything great with it but this year I made sure to use my pre-wedding weekends (pre-crazy-schedule weekends really) wisely and get things in order.

I sprouted some vegetable seeds and I was wondering if anyone had tips on growing peppers, zucchini, broccoli, and cucumbers. Right now they are all still in the seedling phase but I hope that at summer''s end we will have a bounty. This is if the bunnies don''t get to it first. I know they love tender, young plants.

Skippy,

They look like Sweet Williams to me and they are a biennial and will only live for 2 years. You didn''t do anything wrong!

Claritek, you need lots of sunshine, at least 6 hours per day. Good organic compost mixed in with your soil or just top-dressed around your plants. I''m ashamed to say that I''ve only ever grown tomatoes (and I call myself a gardener!). I live in a condo, so I don''t have a lot of room for veg unfortunately. My dream garden would be an old English kitchen garden potager. Let us know how things work out for you.
