What's a reasonable price for a 14k rose gold ring setting?

This would be my first time having a ring custom made and I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips.
I already have some inquiries out to a couple recommended vendors on ETSY.
I am interested in creating a 14k rose gold, split shank, size 7 ring with claw prongs for a 9mmx9mm stone. The thing is, I have no idea what a reasonable price is if I am supplying the stone.
I know the price of gold is pretty high right now, so are we talking more than $1,000 to create a ring setting like that?

I'm trying to figure out if it would be cheaper to purchase a similar ring or have something created.
I have found a stone that I really like, but have held off on buying it because I'm worried I will have trouble finding a reputable jeweler to set it for a reasonable price.
Unfortunately, there aren't very many brick-and-mortar jewelers in my area. Certainly not any that I trust.

Thanks for your input!

Re: What's a reasonable price for a 14k rose gold ring setti

I was quoted $900 for a 14k rose gold halo setting, but that price is including VS2 diamond melee around the halo and shank, and an inexpensive 7mm center stone. Another quote for the same exact thing (the setting is literally ordered from the same wholesaler) from a different vendor was a little over $1100 if I remember correctly.

I guess it depends how intricate your setting is, but $1000 seems a tad on the high side if it doesn't include any stones, based on what I've seen in my own searching (I'm also shopping on Etsy for rose gold).

I paid around $1400 for the setting in my avatar -- it's 18K rose gold & the vendor sourced the yellow sapphires on the shank, so they're included in the price. I provided the spinel. If you don't want pave, etc., you should be able to do it in 14K for around $1000; depending on design, a split shank might use more gold, or possibly less. How's that for a definitive answer?

I think this makes a difference though; I would assume that if the setting is being ordered from a wholesaler that works with multiple outlets then the setting is not handmade. I would think a handmade setting would be more. If the stone you are looking at is a calibrated size you can probably find a setting from a wholesaler that fits the stone and the pocketbook just right! If it's an odd shape or size and you have to go custom, then I think $800-$1000 for an original piece is about right, including metal and labor.
