i bought this little (.29ct) antique pear shaped diamond on ebay. I saw it and thought it was really cute and put in a very low bid and won. It was listed as G, VS 1, but who knows. Anyway, so now I have to find something to do with it. I don't want to spend alot, so I thought about putting it in a rose gold stacking ring and have it set e/w but also thought that some of you may be more creative than I am and would have other suggestions. Any ideas?

Bezeled e-w in a dainty stacker would be nice. Rose gold? Do you have other ones to stack it with? What ring size are you?

Bezeled on a delicate chain for a bracelet or a necklace?

I think cause of its size - keep it simple.

It looks really cute, have your received it yet?

Thanks for the reply. I'm a size 5.75 but if stacking I would probably get a 6. I have one other rose hold band and two white gold very thin eternity rings that I could mix with the rose.

The pendant is beautiful but I'm not a necklace person and also I think my diamond is too small for that. But thank you for the suggestion, it's a good alternative to a ring.

Yes I have. I took the photo that I posted.

That antique pear is lovely...what about a pinkie ring? Personally I would bezel it and put in a delicate 14" necklace so more people will see it.

So you would wear it right up at your throat? I might be able to deal with a necklace like that. Would you do a simple bezel with the point of the stone up ? How would the chain work? The stone is just so small I don't want more metal than necessary.

I would do this as well, it would be stunning!

A multi-gem Gypsy ring?

What a cute little guy! I would find it a couple of friends and put it in an Art Nouveau ring like this one:

Ditto this. But I would set it east-west on the necklace (so chain attached to the point and the middle of the base) in a super thin rose gold backless bezel -- Yvonne Raley has some super dainty backless bezel pieces, I think she uses laser soldering to make them seamless. Maybe she could do something like this. I might go 15", but i think the goal would be to have it sit right at the collarbone. I would also consider doing the same but in a bracelet (though that will flip more). Its an adorable stone -- enjoy! I need to figure out how to get some of these ebay steals.

YES. I'd call Grace and have her set it in either a bezel ring or bangle in rich 22kt yellow gold wash. MMMM!!!!! That's what I'd do!

Agree with Madelise!

I have a similar sized stone, but mine's a .25ct antique cushion.
I think stones that size look best in delicate bezels with stacked rings, as solitare pendants, or as as accent stones.

To give you an idea, I'm in the middle of looking for someone to design a very delicate necklace for me that says "nyc", and I'm going to use the stone as an accent about a 1/2" up from the letter "c". It's gonna be a fun piece in 18kt pink gold, one that I can layer with other necklaces.

Something like that would be lovely with your pear.

Thank you all! I knew you'd have some wonderful suggestions. It gives me alot to think about. In the mean time, do you have any suggestions as to who could set my stone? I thought I'd like to try an Etsy vendor, but the few I have contacted don't work with customer's stones. I know there are a lot of recommended people on here but will any of them take on such a small project?

HI:

Do you like the look of a ring on a middle or first finger?

I would design a ring with a very thin setting and wear it on my pointer.

cheers--Sharon

can you try getting a shot with the stone on your hand?

I will try tomorrow when there is daylight. But I'm afraid to take it outside. It's too little. If I drop it I'll never find it!

I would do a nice milgrain bezel short length DBTY. It's lovely!

If youre not normally a necklace person what piece of jewellery do you want to put this in? I personally think it would look lovely in DBTY type bracelet with some other shaped stones.

Well, my fall back position is a stacking ring out of rose gold with the diamond set east/west. But I am thinking that a very simple bezel setting in a pendant with a short chain might be a necklace I can deal with. I also like the little chunky bezel ring at JBG posted by arkieb1.

I just saved a few pear ring setting this week :)

I love your little pear!

Thanks. I think it will be a bit underwhelming as a lone pendant, lone ring, or lone bracelet but will make for an excellent ring stacker or some sort of multi-stone piece of jewellery.
