Mine would never want a new band either. But we've only been married for 18 months though!

My dh has around 7 wedding bands. The 18K yellow gold band we got married with and then a platinum band, and a few less expensive "fun" bands that he switches up as his mood strikes. I guess we are alike that way. He has dozens of watches as well. He enjoys the variety.

Yes, it'll be a ring. At first it was going to be an OEC RHR 5 or 7 stone but decided against that after conversing with some PSers. Now it'll be like Katiedid's ring, which was my inspiration in the first place.
