What would you call this interior decorating style?

In the industry I believe the technical term is A Realtor's Nightmare. Unofficially known as a clusterfvck.

Aww come on now. You don't like shutters that resemble dominos?

Oh my gosh, I got the heebie jeebies looking through those pics...the backyard did look nice though.

Looks like a knock-down to me!

If I were the listing agent? "Eclectic." It's not quite as scary as "highly idiosyncratic."

It's like a really bad decorator showcase where each room is done by a different lousy decorator.

I'm gonna guess the owner, who just died at an advanced age, was an American military officer (of Italian descent) who served in Asia/The Pacific during WW2.
More likely, he died 30 years ago and his much-younger Asian wife just passed.

This, his dream home, was set up in 1963.
I'll bet he thought his house would start a lucrative bidding war because it was so perfect.

Actually, there may be a few eclectic free-thinkers who would love it, exactly as is furnishings and all.
It wouldn't show well empty.

I love those over-the-top hot and cold water knobs. :lol-2:

I suspect you're very close, Kenny! This house definitely has the Italianate/Mediterranean/Asian (con)fusion thing going on!

I believe my grandfather once had a polyp of that exact shape removed. It was all downhill from there...

If you took down the decor several notches and removed some of the antiques, it's actually pretty close to my style.

Pool in the backyard!! I can remodel/enlarge the pool and the um decor in the house seems like its so old now you're going to replace all the finishes anyway. Its clean and uncluttered, ya gotta give them that!

Poodles, I also dig the poodle statue in the bathroom!!! If we fall in, he'll call 911 :lol-2::razz:

Hollywood Regency style?
This house was super chic in the mid 70s!
That flocked/foil wall paper was all the rage.

Eclectico-nostalgic.
We were once eyeing the house that used to belong to an old lady. She probably decorated it in the 50-es or 60-es. Pink marble in the bathroom, etc. Very sturdy, though, well-kept but also, a mass of Christmas and yard ornaments that had to be switched on according to a certain scheme. At least here, the yard is nice; that house had naked sculptures and gnomes in the yard. And a fountain.

Not quite. But I can see why you say with those window inserts. That'd be a regency type thing for sure. But that flocked wall paper sure was popular!

If you google 70's glam you'll find some similarities. :) This is just an even less well thought out version. (I do like glam and regency, done right.)

Oh, my.
DH and I are about to move to NJ. Good thing I know not every home will look this way.
Though it does remind me of a few neighbors from the neighbor in my childhood, also in NJ. We are a special breed, you know!
It's fun to look at this kind of property, except the clown house, THAT is what nightmares are made from.

well, they didn't have glittery stalactites hanging from the ceiling at least. I'm grateful that is one thing that totally went away...lol

How about this one that's for sale? Not for people with a clown phobia.

Hahaha with house prices going crazy around here some of my friends/coworkers have been looking at houses further from the city.

A few were in the clown house last weekend and apparently it is really freaky. I don't know how buying clowns would STOP you from drinking (per the article), but I guess people vary.

It's consistently over the top ornate; I'll give the former inhabitants that! They went in one direction and ran with it, at least. I bet it made them very happy. Taste is so subjective, isn't it?
