What to look for to get a firey diamond

Hi all.

I am looking to change my natural 0.7ct diamond for a lab grown 1ct diamond and am wondering what I should look for in the specs to make sure I get a firey diamond? I wasn't involved in the purchase of the 0.7ct and since have found pricescope, so hoping to get some advice to be armed with when I start the search.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, b2k2!
What I usually limit proportions and angles to for finding a more fiery diamond are the following:

PA: 40.5-40.8
CA: 35.0-36.0
TW: 53-56%
CH: 15% or taller
Stars: 45-50%

It becomes quite tricky since there are some very important things to watch out for regarding proper light return and optics.

It is a very limiting search, as it's entirely possible to find quite a fiery diamond with a 40.7-40.8/34.0-34.5/54-58 combo, for example.

We can definitely help you search: which sellers are you looking at?

Thanks so much. This is very useful knowledge.

What are the things to watch out for regarding proper light return and optics?

I am in the UK and am thinking will purchase local so I can see the diamond in person.

This chart can add to DejaWiz's comments. "Fiery Balanced" would probably get you a great result without too much compromise.

I might consider purchasing from whiteflash if there is an amazing option. Would you be able to recommend any from there please? Colour d-f. And doesn't have to be exactly 1ct :)

What's your budget cap (USD, pre-VAT/taxes if applicable) for just the loose diamond?

I think approximately 1500 USD

Put this firecracker on hold...or just buy it.
If you don't like it, then the return policy can be utilized.
It is slightly tilted in the video, so don't let it deter you if you want to take a shot at it.
Adiamor has the best price that I could find, but price matching is probably feasible if you want to buy from a different seller.

If you want to try out a bigger diameter, then I'm seeing north of 2 carats D-E VS1+ for your budget.

Thank you so much DejaWiz. Both of these look amazing. I like the size too, I think 2ct would be too big for me.

Which would you choose at the two?

This one is gorgeous and the one I would go for! b2k2, put it on hold at least so no one snatches it from under you.

GIA graded diamond would be my first choice because I'm a sucker for the 40.6/34.5/55 combo with 75% lowers.
Grab that and you'll never look back... because you'll always be looking at it. :)

Haha that's good to know.

Notice the gridle is slightly thick, is that a concern?

Also do you know if GIA have the clarity images like the IGI reports?

No concern with the girdle or the VVS2 clarity

Thanks so much.

Is there any diamonds you can recommend with a size of 1ct, I am abit afraid 1.25ct might be abit too big for me. Ordered a cz version to see.

What is your finger size? You can use this diamond simulator to get a better visual on how it will look on a certain sized finger.

I am a UK Size L, which I think is US size 6.

Thanks for the link

This may help as well. 1.12 ct on a size 6 finger.

I had added the videos and pictures in the message above. Sorry it isn't straight forward to read, couldn't find an easier way to add the links :)
