What to look for in a large emerald LGD?

Hi all - I've always been mesmerized by the look of a large emerald engagement ring...especially one with good finger coverage with trapezoids on either side.

Up to this point, I've learned a decent amount about round diamonds...but have ZERO idea what I'm looking for in terms of emerald to make sure it's a great cut, eye clean, white facing color, etc...

What are some of the things you look for? What are watch-outs? I've heard to prioritize cut and clarity over color...but still not sure what would constitute a good cut.

Depending on how colour sensitive you are, you may want to prioritise colour. Step cuts hold colour a lot more than brilliant cuts, and the bigger the stone, the more colour you'll notice. Other than that, if you have a ratio in mind, that's a good way to weed out the stones that aren't right. Nice cleans steps are what you're looking for and that's also more important the bigger the stone.
