What to do with this pendant?

I bought this pendant when I was 18 (almost 20 years ago) after my mother passed away.

I haven't worn it in 10+ years - simply because it's not my style anymore.

I'm picking up my new Julia setting next week and was wondering maybe I could take the stones from this and create a WB?

Or perhaps I could just save it and give it to my daughter when she's older?

Any other suggestions?

Does this piece have sentimental value to you? I ask only because I'm sure the diamonds could be incorporated into a nice wedding band, but it's also likely that if it's in your budget, you could find higher-performing diamonds that would give you a 'blingier" band than you'd get by re-using the stones from your pendant.

Another option for those diamonds might be to incorporate them into a DBTY-type project... maybe earrings for your and your daughter, or a nice necklace for your daughter as she gets older.

Is it sentimental? if so that's a nice thing to pass down, other wise I'd turn it into a bezel band or eternity

Part of me says, yes it's sentimental... but then the other part of me is like "well it's not like mom actually gave you the pendant".

I feel bad not wearing it, and even if I do save it for my daughter... she might not like it or even appreciate it.

Make them into a band and engrave something nice about your mom in it?

I like the idea of making a band out of it.

I would either make a band or a DBTY necklace with the diamonds. My vote goes to the DBTY.

One other option since the heart is not too large - replace the bale and use the pendant as a bracelet charm. It would probably be too large for everyday use, but might work as an occasional piece?

Maybe you could create a new pendant using the same diamonds but something that is more your style now. This way you are still using the diamonds, and it would still be a pendant.

If it was me, and because this piece is sentimental. I would have it made into a ring. I like to be able to see my pieces when they have a special place in my heart.

Then every time you look down at your hand, you remember your wonderful mother.

Do you think the diamonds are big enough for a DBTY? Total weight of the 16 diamonds is just under 1ct.

This was my original thought too, not sure what type of ring though - channel I suppose?

6 pointers would be a lovely bezeled eternity band! That is also a common DBTY size if you like that idea.

Decisions decisions, I honestly like both ideas - perhaps I need to think on this a little more and find some inspiration pieces.

For a dbty necklace, why not make one with altenating size diamonds? For example, althernate between 15-pt and 6 pt?

Thanks FD, but I don't want to use any new diamonds... only the current ones I have. So far I have found these two pieces I rather like...

Since the pendant has sentimental value, I'd go for the ring. Somehow it seems more personal than the DBTY necklace.

I think 6-pt dbty is very tiny. The necklace may look a little "insignificant". However, if used in a bezel eternity ring, the jewelry will be perfect. I also vote for bezel eternity ring. Love your inspiration ring.

Oh I love the bezel eternity ring! I think you should go with that!

another vote for the bezel eternity. THis way you can also look at the diamonds and be reminded of their significance. I think they DBTY would be pretty small and delicate in the end.

Have you been in touch with any vendors to get a price for either idea? Maybe that's the deciding factor....??

This is my thought as well... the diamonds are too small for a DBTY.

Haven't been in touch with any vendors yet, any recommendations?

I think they could definitely work for a DBTY but I know a lot of people around here like them larger. The bezel eternity is a great idea too!
