What to do with small gemstones?

I have a bunch of small but very pretty gemstones from my early days into the coloured gemstone world. I think they are too small for rings and pendants so I don''t know what to do with them and at the same time, don''t want to spend too much money on them since they don''t cost more than $200 each when I bought them. Suggestions would be great.

1. 0.8 ct Barion cut square blue spinel
2. 0.6 ct Barion cut square colour change garnet (hot pink to golden yellow)
3. 0.4 ct Barion cut rectangular blue-ish green elbaite tourmaline
4. 1 ct Barion cut square greenish blue elbaite tourmaline
5. 1 ct square cushion colour change garnet (olive green to amethyst purple)
6. 1 ct pear colour change garnet (teal to reddish purple)

Chrono, I''ve been searching and searching for a pic of a necklace that my local jeweler has that is just stunning but I can''t find anything close. It has a drop that is made of several different colored gemstones and there are several more in the chain. Something like this horrible drawing. I love this necklace and look at it everytime I''m in there. Maybe you could do something like this?

How about some earring dangle drops where the stones are bezeled; that would be beautiful. I also like the ideal of a pendant; the color combo would be very pretty.

Any of the one carat stones could be set in a halo-type pendant setting.

One thing to do would be to use smaller stones to highlight larger stones in a pendant. I''ve got a 6 x 8 mm opal and a 4 mm square emerald, and they''re going to go together in the same pendant later this year.

I also agree that a 1 ct stone is a fine size for a ring. What about a dramatic, fun pinky ring?

There are two other things you could do with them that are outside the square.

1. Use them as gifts to younger relatives - maybe with silver settings. As an 18-year-old who liked gemstones, any of these would have thrilled me.

2. Have them set...in a shadowbox. Have your own little "colored gemstone" display, the kind that you''d see in a museum. You could accent this with a few larger crystalline mineral specimens.
