What to do with setting?

Was the eBay auction winner. But I’m debating if I should return. Have 3 days. Here’s is why.
I’m a sucker for Art Deco but I’m not sure this is art deco Bc if the prongs on the sidestones. Seem more 80’s to me. Also, is it a bezel setting and if it is, why does it have prongs? Inserted earrings to see how a stone might look

I don't know what to call the setting. Not Art Deco but IMHO not 80's either. I guess it's an either you love it or you don't situation. If you have a colored stone that fits the setting and the price is right it seems pretty enough. And I am going to be totally honest here- those pointy things in the setting. I have seen them before but I don't really care for them.
