The stone is @Probee's. My dad never buys this type of stuff; neither does my mom. I agree that $2k value is for sure, and $3k may be more of an upper limit. It's definitely worthy of getting a lab report so this family heirloom is valuable, and anyone you pass it to in the family should know that it's valuable.
