Hi everyone,

I am trying to come up with some ideas that I can use to re-invent my princess cut. It''s not large, approx .70 but i''ve had it for ages and don''t really see myself replacing it in the foreseeable future, but I could justify doing something with it.

Can you recut a princess to have cut corners (not sure on technical term)? I am wondering whether I could use it in it''s existing setting but add a diamond jacket to create a halo type effect, but more like a baguette halo.

Anyone have any ideas? I''m sure by the time I do this it will cost a fair bit, but not as much as replacing the stone altogether considering it''s not really worth trading.

Thanks a million.

I wouldn''t bother having it recut to take weight off ... but if you want that *look*, perhaps you could have it set in a bezel, sort of like LaurenthePartier''s ring? Maybe as a bezel? I can picture that looking very snazzy, and .70 is a *great* size for a pendant ....

Circe - that''s exactly what I first thought when I saw the thread. I bet a well crafted bezel setting could hide the corners and you''d never know it was a princess cut.

Heh, great minds think alike - thought, that said, I''m amused by my own typo! I''ve got bezels on the brain, it appears.

Pendant! Like D&T, I think it would make a great pendant in its bezel. Heh.

Thanks everyone, Julie, Lauren, Dreamer, D&T, circe. This diamond actually was once in a rose gold sliding bezel pendant, kite angled, and it did look awesome, about 7 years ago! Problem being that since it got put into my ER, my DH bought me a "replica" pendant a year or so later (except actually it has 4 x 10pt invisible cut diamonds in it, visually around the same size). So, I could get a new stone to match my new BGD sapphire/diamond band and in that case put the princess stone into a pendant again, but then I''d have the spare pendant ... which incidentally he had earrings made to match for our wedding.

interesting idea about setting it in a different shape but not changing the diamond though. i thought in the process of having it recut I could also increase the performance. Not sure it''s worth it but you know ...
