During the day, anywhere between 67-69. At night, 63. I like it cool to sleep.

I do too! I love to lay with tons of blankets piled on me and then the cat with me too!

72-76 degrees..........

long story.

I''m MUCH happier with 66.

That''s warm! I might be happier with that temp than with 66!

My husband began talking this evening about how inefficient our house is. It''s 2,400 sq feet and we set the thermostat at 70 earlier and the furnace hasn''t been able to heat the house to above 68. During the day, I keep many of the window coverings down to insolate the interior. DH says it''s the windows which need replacing and that is a not to buy this house (as we thought about doing at first).

lol I despise it! I sleep with the window cracked open and the fan on... FI freezes but I am pretty much always hot. It''s 73 degrees right now and I''m dying. blah. about to peel clothing off.

Because of the set up of our building (condos built in 1901- GREAT woodwork, not so great heating structure) There is only one thermostat for the entire building. If we don''t have our heat this high, the people on the other side of the building will/ would be in the low 60''s.

We''re getting some work done on the radiators this winter so hopefully I don''t have to sleep with a window open when it''s 10 degrees outside :)

60 day, 55 night, layered up and sleep in a sleeping bag.

I don''t think our thermometer is very accurate. I like it to be a bit over 70, sometimes it gets a bit colder and so I make it a bit warmer in here and then it eventually gets a bit too warm and I have to make it cooler.
BF''s mom keeps their house around 68 and I''m pretty sure it gets colder at night. Plus they have hard wood floors, leather furniture and lots of windows.

I''m getting chilly just reading how cold some of you keep your houses!

68 at night and 64-65 during the day when no one is home. My mom, on the other hand, sets hers at 60 all the time. It''s so cold in her house!

Interesting thread!
We just bought a house, and we''re trying not to be shocked by our heating bill... and we just installed one of those programmable thermostats. Currently, we''re not using the programmable option, because we dont get home or go to bed at exactly the same times each day.

It''s set at 62 for sleeping and during the day when we''re not home. 67 when we''re home and up (like 5p-midnight). I turn it up to 69-70 when company comes over (well, at least til everyone has a few drinks in them

).

We don''t use our heater at all; needless to say our house is pretty cold. We do use small space heaters on occasion, when it gets really cold. During the winter it''s typically 50s/60s during the day and 40s at night, our house usually ends up being in the low 60s.

For the colder months, the thermostat is set for 55 when no one is home during the day, 62-64 when home (depending on how cold it is outside), and usually 60-62 overnight.

65, but my DH sneaks it closer to 70 when I am out of the house.

We live in an apartment building so we don't control our heat - the building controls it. It gets SO warm here in the winter!!

ETA: I wish it were cooler. I love cuddling up under the covers with sweatpants on, but when it's so warm in our apartment it almost feels like summer. We leave our window open most of the time in the winter.

We never turn the heater on.

Our heating is set to come on for 30 minutes in the morning, and about 5-6 hours in the evening. It''s set on 17-20 C (63-68 F). DH keeps it on 17, I turn it up to 18-20 sometimes. The hot water heats for 30 minutes in the morning unless it''s a weekend and then we turn on the boiler as needed. Our shower it electric so the hot water isn''t needed for that, literally just used for hand washing and hand washing dishes.

It''s set a bit differently for the weekend. And it goes off during the day while we''re gone and for the night at about 11pm when we go to bed.

55 when no one is home and at night. 65 when we are home. When we have guests it goes up to 67 or so because I''ve come to realize that we must be part polar bear. We are both used to cooler than average temperatures indoors because of suffering through college heating bills. When I first started grad school I kept my apartment at 60! My roommate took major issue with this.

74-78 usually. But I think our thermostat is wrong.

Our thermostat allegedly works, but we have it "set" at less than 50 degrees, and it''s probably 75 in there all winter long. We haven''t turned on the heat ever despite sub-zero temperatures and have ridiculously low electric bills in the winter.

The apt is generally whatever temperature it is outside, and the insulation is abysmal, so we make good use of blankets, snuggies, and the occasional space heater.

I''m surprised at how many people keep their thermostats so low!

60 at night, 64 during the day...

we''re saving money, wearing slippers, sweatshirts, using blankets to cuddle : p
