Dear Diamond Dealers:
Here I am! $6000 closer to getting my diamond! I am trying to figure out how much to spend to get what i've been wanting and and narrow my choices. I've listed my priorities below to help explain what I really want.

HERE ARE MY PRIORITIES IN ORDER:
(ROUND DIAMOND)

1. ICY WHITE COLOR
2. SPARKLES ALOT
3. SIZE

BUDGET: $6000 cash (right now) BUT can save up to $10,000 by next year or so(?) if it means getting very close to what i really want!

QUESTIONS:
1. What is the iciest white color for my budget? I have an I diamond (.60) w/ lots of blue floures. and I'm very unhappy w/ it. White sometimes, sparkle here and there, not floating my boat, so to speak. Suggestions besides the D I'm D-ying for?

2. What is the "crappiest" cut I should go for to still get TREMENDOUS sparkle?

3. What is the LARGEST size I can get for that price range w/ these priorities?

TO ME this is CONFUSING - I just can't seem to figure out the BEST VALUE for my wants. Can someone help me? Thank you very much!!!!!

Which is it, .60 I or .75 H-I? That's a pretty big difference...

I don't want to offend anyone, but are you really here for help to buy a diamond? From several of your previous posts, it just doesn't seem like you are. I hope that isn't the case though...

Just wondering, because it seems like a few months ago you wasted a lot of people's time and pissed a lot of people off, and it looks like you are back on track to do it again at this rate.

Just my two cents/ humble opinion. If this is considered an inappropriate post, let me know. Thanks.

Dear KKeen(?)

To answer your question, since i don't really care for my present ring (hence the reason I'm here in pricescope) I cannot tell you with 100% conviction that my diamond is .60 or .75. It's definitely between that range. I don't really care to be honest. It's small and that's my point.

- but thank you for remembering me! That's awfully sweet of you!

WD, my general recommendation is for noobies (heck, that includes me) to put in their price range on the Blue Nile's java integrated diamond search engine. Because of their large volume on stock, you will get a excellent idea of the 4C's that you can afford.

The next thing to do is to search the main internet vendors for the right one (since you're likely to get much better 4Cs for the same price than BN due to less overhead, being B&Ms, etc). Like yourself, I had to return a couple erings before I found the perfect diamonds from Superbcert. During my search, WF and GOG were also very helpful.

I've tried searching website inventories- I'd rather have the expert opinions of people specializing in the diamond business (that's why I'm in pricescope!) giving me their opinions
on what is the best value/size, etc. for my money.

WD,

I think people have said this before, but the best value/choice for you is personal. No one else is going to define it for you. If you read past posts, lots of people think G/SI1 is a sweet spot, but with your color focus, that might not be right for you. Use the search engines to see what is there, and go shopping to see where your preferences/tolerances lie. That is all anyone can really say at this point.

WD,

I have seen your other posts, and you seem to compare everything else with a D. Why don't you just get a D then? Because IMHO, the only color that you'd be satisfied for is a D.

Then make sure you also focus on a super-ideal cut because then the stone will sparkle like mad.

Lastly, email a bunch of PS vendors with your requirements. I believe it's against forum policy for vendors to solicit sale here.

Just my 2 cents.

You're right ladies! I am obsessed w/ D colored diamonds! Make that "colorless". BUT I can't afford a D diamond for the size i want. (probably could get a D 1.40 for 8K (?))

Also, I was thinking about going high up on the clarity - like chancing it w/ an SI3 or I1 or I2 stone. I've seen some on antique diamond sites. Has anyone every purchased an included stone like i mentioned in order to get the size they really wanted??

1.  What is the iciest white color for my budget? Like a D I1?

2.  What is the worst cut I should go for to still get TREMENDOUS sparkle? It HAS to be IDEAL??

3.  What is the LARGEST size I can get for that price range w/ these priorities?

4. Should I go to a very included stone???

1> no one can tell you what diamond prices will be like in a year a diamond that is under 10k now could be well over by then.
Debeers has been increasing prices every 3 months since the begining of the year.
The average is around 8% so far and more than that on the high color goods.

2> 6k will get you into the e-f vs range in a 1ct super-ideal diamond.
Up to around 1.1X in a f-si1.

Something between 2 and 3 carats - since I see no mention of "ideal round" in your post.

I would not get a round - elongates shapes "look" larger, as far as my imagination goes.

So... a marquise or pear, 2-3 cts, D/F-SI3-I1 would be my choice along your restrictions. The best deal would be a piece with anything but GIA or EGL's cert, possibly a non certified or estate piece, if you feel comfortable chasing a deal.

Clarity enhancement comes to mind too, if you do not mind that...
