Hi there

Just after some advice!

I've found some fancy light blue round diamonds from a reputable jeweler who says they are argyle stones but doesn't have the paperwork as he has had them for a long time. He has many other certified colored stones.

They are 0.032 in size and are around $800 each. I would be buying 13 of them for a u prong half eternity ring.

My question is, how small would Gia certify stones? I'd like to ask them to be certified so I know exactly what I'm buying but don't know if Gia cert such small stones!

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

GIA has a relatively new certification procedure for stones such as these. (see website - I cannot pull itup right now). I would want the paper, if only becausee once the stones are set, it would no longer be possible to get it ...

How useful this is ? Oh, I do not know ... Perhaps the ring will never enter another transaction where its identity might need proof, yet ... who can tell.

The "blue" diamonds from Argyle are hydrogen rich grayish blue violet diamond ( all the blue-violet tender stones are) and darker colored.

Light blue should be IIb diamond ( boron content) to my knowledge.
But maybe a diamond expert can help.

They are expensive - so a GIA report makes sense.

By the way there are pretty synthetic blues too - and no problem to produce CVD diamond colored blue
