This isn''t what diamond shape do you like best,
this is what FIRE SIZE you like best :)

I haven''t listed all of the diamond shapes because
I want to keep this simple and just about FIRE SIZE :)

This is general and not about the size of the diamond either...
I do realize a 10 carat round would have some fairly large chunks ;)

Oh dear...there is only one option listed. Cehra, I think this poll needs some editing.

I see you are in the middle of setting this up. I guess I jumped in too soon.

at first I had 5 categories to include asschers/emeralds and oval/marquise/pear but then I decided - I can''t make this about shape... it''s just about fire size. So I dunno - if it is a cushion is it a radiant type, a H&A type, or an antique type? LOL As for emeralds and asschers - what do you think? They''re probably not pinfire but like I said, this isn''t choose your favorite shape, just choose your twinkle!

I don''t know enough about the other shapes but I think I would put emerald cuts and asschers under chunky since the step facets are large compared to rounds. Cushions are a bit tougher since there are the chunky facet types and the pinfire crushed iced types too. I have no idea how to categorize the fire of ovals, marquises and pears.

I put my preference for chunky fire. I love antiques with their pillowtops and emerald cuts & asschers where the steps and top heavy crowns can cause a light show. I do appreciate a good SI RB but the chucky stuff gets my heart every time.

that''s why I cut it down to three categories... if you think "what type of fire is an asscher" you''re missing the point! LOL I probably shouldn''t have put any shapes at all but I thought I''d narrow it down a *little* LOL

I think putting down shapes do help somewhat as some like the shape but can''t quite describe why they like it in relation to the fire. Am I making sense?

yeah, but my concern was that everyone would just put down whatever their stone was LOL

LMAO!!!! well it''s DUH for me and DUH for you, but I was just curious... because fire size doesn''t dictate what diamond type we get... I was just thinking how so many say they love chunky fire, but many of them their primary rings are rounds.... and they might prefer chunky fire but not enough to give up the intensity of a IRB. I happen to love both the outline AND the chunks of old cut cushions but I do sometimes have intensity envy of the rounds LOL I was wondering if we disregarded intensities and shapes and just focused on size what we each prefer... my stone also has amazing pinfire and when I looked at princesses in the past I never liked them because they were boring to me... and then when I fell for my stone part of why is because it had the pinfire and not *just* the chunky fire... and after that when I looked at princesses I could totally see the attraction! It doesn''t surprise me at all that people would put that they prefer it over chunks of fire. Chunky looks lumpy sometimes and not elegant or graceful LOL

I love Old Mine and Old European cuts. They make a lot of the modern cuts disappear.

OECs and OMCs... YUMMY FIRE!!!

*M*

When I'm driving my convertible, with the top down, I can't stop looking at my ACA. It's shooting fire and scintillating and putting on quite the show!! I must learn to watch the road

Seriously, I love the overall performance of the superideal cut diamonds. It was the perfect choice, for me

my husband has one too and I have done this too - worn my stone in its temp setting and driven around LOL! Its amazing! Most of the time I kept it in my bra and I was waiting in the car for him (I was driving) and I took it out to play with and I burned my retinas so bad I had to let him drive LOL

All good points, and an interesting question to solicit different views...

Personally, I don''t think that I disregarded intensity and focused on something else-- for the type of stone I have, I think the intensity level is perfect. If it was a round, it would be lacking...

I would be very surprised if people made purchasing decisions solely on fire size, but it certainly puts you into certain categories of stones, so there is definitely a strong correlation there.

You kept it in your bra...ROFLMAO. I'm gasping for breath here, Sara. I'm glad I'm not the only one who may be pulled over and ticketed for reckless driving, while staring at her diamond

WoW! Cehra, wouldn't that leave grease on the table from your skin?

ETA
I don't mean to imply that your skin is greasy (I don't think I said it well) but you know, the normal body oils and humans do sweat, etc. I wouldn't dream of hiding it in my bra because I'll be too worried my body's natural oils will leave grease on the table.

My guess would be large since they have broad flashes of color.

As far as my opinion goes....I really love them all!!

My favorite is a round brilliant. It didn't use to be, but it is now, and I'm hookied!

ETA: I mean the FIRE from a round brilliant! But I am amazed by the colors in your particular stone, Cehra. If I didn't know better it almost has an aurora borealis finish -- the colors are stunning. My luck would never prevail in finding a fancy like that, though! So I'm sticking to rounds.

LMAO!!! Okay I guess I should have said I kept the BOX in my bra!! I wouldn''t trust a loose diamond in there, it''d get lost for sure!! My husband calls it my treasure chest. I snuck a camera into a concert in my cleavage. Hey, at least they''re good for something ;)

when I first came to get a diamond I wanted an oval but I wanted a rainbow maker and I really didn''t know how to get one or how to ask for one. I asked VERY annoying questions to people to try to figure it out because OMCs just don''t grow on trees to go look at locally... not here anyway. It seemed the bigger the facet the bigger the fire, and OMC had the biggest facets and I learned big crowns can mean big fire... and then of course the bigger the stone the bigger the facets, so I wanted a big stone with big facets. Not for the same reasons others want big stones, but just for the rainbows LOL I definitely approached choosing a diamond shape in a very backwards sort of way. I really thought about getting a round for a while (every day) because I was so frustrated finding the right OMC but I couldn''t do the round outline, it seemed too boring, but I still regret not having the performance... so I need one of each, its decided LOL

Cehra...you know my answer.....COME ON BABY LIGHT MY FIRE!!!

Well... right now it is at 11, 59, and 30. I kinda expected the 30% for chunky, but I thought it would be more 20, 50, 30! I think RB bias has influenced the middle section as well. I probably shouldn''t have mentioned *any* cuts and just said like pinfire, medium fire, and chunky fire ::snap:: oh well... I still think the breakdown is interesting :) When I first got my stone it bugged me that the types of sparkle were all over the place - but the pinfire in my stone is what first really stole my heart... I had never found it that interesting before but having it mixed in with the other fires it was like glitter on top of fire and I love it now. I actually find the medium sparkle the most boring, but that in no way means that *any* sparkle is bad... quite the contrary! Its alllllllll good :D

I like rb''s and OMC/OEC. The main thing is I have no access to looking at a nice selection of cushions, so my preference is sort of immaterial. I imagine that if I could just wish for a stone, it would have to be Antique Diamond Gem''s cushion. It is a magnificent design and it still perfectly symmetrical. I''ve never found out where his stones are sold and probably couldn''t afford them anyway. But I think that''s what I''d have if I could choose anything.
