What should I do with my old ering?

I'm so excited that I'm getting a new BGD ring very soon (it's been ordered), but I'm not sure what to do with my current ering. It's almost 20 years old. One of the reasons I'm replacing it is because the band has nearly warn through. I talked to IDJ about making a wedding band from the diamonds but they said they would be worried about chipping and it would be very expensive. Now I'm thinking about getting a new shank and having it plated and resized to wear as a rhr. I don't wear a lot of jewelry ( just my ering and diamond studs usually), but I'm so sentimental about my ring I don't know if I'd ever be able I part with it. I'd rather make it into something I can wear than to have it just sit in my jewelry box.

I don't know much about my ring. It's probably IGI or EGL certified - it was bought from a store at the mall). The center is a .4 ct and it is around .75 ctw. I have paperwork somewhere for it and I had it appraised a long time ago and I can probably dig it up if I needed to. I've always loved it and I still get compliments on it even though the style is out of date and it isn't the giant rocks you see these days around here.

Thanks!

It does not cost much to rebuild the shank. I've done so on antique white gold settings that have worn down too much for around $100.
